Alberelli di Giodo bianco - Sicilia DOC 2023
Alberelli di Giodo: The Volcanic Signature of Etna
The story of Giodo in Montalcino began in 2002 with the acquisition by Carlo Ferrini, an internationally renowned oenologist, of one hectare in the Brunello appellation. Although he had worked in Sicily for over twenty years, he was captivated by Etna and the Nerello Mascalese grape. Thus began the story of Alberelli di Giodo, with its first vintage in 2016.
In these 8 plots, Carlo Ferrini discovered some Carricante vines. In the past, it was common for farmers on Etna to plant different types of grape varieties in their small plots. This is how the story of Alberelli di Giodo Carricante began.
The white vineyard extends over 0.9 hectares with 50-year-old vines.
This white wine ages on its lees for 6 months in stainless steel tanks and then for 10 months in bottles. A total of 5,000 bottles are produced from the 2023 vintage.
