Château Prieuré-Lichine has always reminded me of silky, tender tofu, but in the hot and dry 2022 vintage, it takes on a character more akin to chewy dried tofu (featuring 12% press wine). The bouquet is intensely aromatic, revealing vibrant notes of dried jujube and blueberry compote, subtly lifted by a hint of orange zest upon swirling. Thanks to gentle extraction techniques—such as foot-treading and halving the usual maceration frequency—combined with relatively low-temperature fermentation, the wine greets the palate with a finely textured sensation reminiscent of cocoa powder. Typically reserved in character, Château Prieuré-Lichine unveils a livelier and more dynamic side in the 2022 vintage. The finish is captivating, distinguished by an enchanting touch of salinity that recalls a Saint-Émilion-like finish, leaving a lasting impression among Médoc wines.

Enticing aromatics, crushed rose petals, with a kick of dark cassis and blueberry fruits on the opening, well balanced, enjoyable, delivered with skill and retains the appellation typicity while not sacrificing the exuberance of the year. Good quality. One to age, you can feel the tannins holding everything firmly in place at this point. 32hl/h yield.

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Prieuré-Lichine reveals a spicy bouquet of dark berries, licorice, spices and oak aromas. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it has a fleshy core of fruit, powdery, youthful tannins and a long, slightly austere finish.

Plums, sappy flowers, violets, and spicy oak notes all define the 2022 Château Prieuré-Lichine, a ripe, concentrated, medium to full-bodied Margaux. It has solid mid-palate depth, plenty of background oak, and a great finish. While this ripe, textured, wonderfully layered Margaux offers pleasure today, it should have no issues evolving gracefully over the coming 15-20 years. The blend is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, aged 14 months in barrel.

2027-2044 94/100

The 2022 Prieuré-Lichine has a very ripe bouquet in keeping with the growing season, which saw three heat waves. It has black cherry, cassis and iodine aromas on the nose that is perhaps just a little Mediterranean for my liking. The palate is on the richer side, with touches of baked cherry, melted tar and licorice. This is quite heady, with a creamy texture toward the finish. Compared to its peers, this Prieuré-Lichine shows the mark of vintage more than others.

This is really something for the Prieure. The aromas are vivid and bright and so, so perfumed. Violets, other flowers and citrus blossoms too. Medium- to full-bodied with ultrafine polished tannins that go on and on. Cashmere texture. Long and seductive. Best after 2029.

The 2022 Prieuré-Lichine is plush, open-knit and quite seductive, as it so often is. Crushed flowers, spice, mint, orange peel and bright, red-toned fruit are all laced together. Silky and medium in body, with lovely finesse, Prieuré-Lichine is quite the charmer. I imagine it will drink well with minimal cellaring.

Fragrant and concentrated, a lovely perfume on the nose. Easy, cool, almost light fruit on the palate, doesn't have the density of some, but it's sleek and taught - streamlined and keeps the focus. Tannins are fine and well integrated and this is a slick, quite suave - if not quite exciting- take on the vintage. Well made, nice concentration and tannic impact. Tasted twice.

n my mind, Château Prieuré-Lichine is like a silky block of tofu, but in the hot and dry vintage of 2022, it resembles a more chewy and textured dried tofu. The berry aromas are particularly pronounced in this vintage, with the fragrance of dried red dates and blueberry pulp emanating from the glass, as well as a hint of refreshing orange peel. Thanks to a gentle extraction, which was reduced by half compared to previous vintages, and a cooler fermentation, this wine reveals a velvety texture reminiscent of cocoa powder upon entry, despite the abundance of tannins that do not weigh it down. Of course, if the aroma were more expressive, it would be even more exceptional. I look forward to seeing how it performs after bottling.

The 2022 Prieuré-Lichine has a lively nose with blackberry, raspberry and violet scents that unfurl in the glass. Slightly high-toned and showy. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, powdery in texture, graphite-infused black fruit with a classically-styled finish. Perhaps it needs just a little more length on the aftertaste, but this should still provide a couple of decade's drinking pleasure.

Deep crimson. Intense dark plum, cassis hint strawberry aromas with hinst of spice. Very minerally and structured palate with plentiful dark and red berry fruits, sinewy firm tannins and some bittersweet notes. Finishes cedar firm with very good length. (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot 40% new oak.

The 2022 Prieure-Lichine is deep garnet-purple in color. It tumbles out with eager-to-please scents of juicy blackcurrant, Morello cherries, and black raspberries, followed by hints of cedar, violets, and black truffles. The medium to full-bodied palate is densely packed with juicy black fruit and floral accents, supported by beautifully ripe, fine-grained tannins and a refreshing backbone, finishing long and fragrant. This is a very impressive showing for Prieure-Lichine.

The 2022 Château Prieuré-Lichine offers a pure, vibrant bouquet of red and blue fruits as well as plenty of cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of iron. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with nicely integrated tannins as well as outstanding overall balance, this well-made, impeccably balanced Margaux will drink nicely with just short-term cellaring. It's easily in the same ballpark quality-wise as the 2018, 2019, and 2020, all of which are beautiful wines. Tasted twice.

The 2022 Prieuré-Lichine is classy and polished, with lovely aromatic brightness to match its silky, mid-weight personality. Crushed flowers, mint, blood orange and spice are nicely delineated. There's good up-front richness, but then a bit less intensity through the mid-palate and finish. Tasted two times. Drinking window : 2027-2047

Flowers, blackberries, currants, espresso, and plums with a touch of cocoa form the nose. On the palate, the wine is loaded with lusciously-textured, ripe, polished fruits. There is a solid depth of flavor, good energy, and layers of black and red fruits on the mid-palate and in the creamy, fruit-packed finish. Drink from 2027-2055.

Offering up generous amounts of sweet berries, orange rind and licorice, the 2022 Prieuré-Lichine is medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, with a lively core of fruit that's framed by powdery tannins that assert themselves on the youthfully firm finish. This heavily morcellated estate (amounting to some 125 different parcels) continues to benefit from a more rigorous selection and better attention to detail regarding harvest dates.
