The 2016 Citran has an understated bouquet that demanded some encouragement from the glass, although it eventually revealed nicely detailed black fruit tinged with cedar and graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, just the right amount of juiciness with a linear and taut, saline finish. This is a commendable follow-up to the 2015 Citran and it should give 10-15 years of pleasure.

The 2016 Citran is bold, plump and absolutely delicious. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, tobacco, grilled herbs and leather infuse this juicy, voluptuous Haut-Médoc. Best of all, the 2016 should be a terrific value.

A super-reliable, good quality name in the Haut-Médoc category. Ground coffee flavours run right through the extremely elegant black fruits, liquorice and charcoal, with a lovely seam of freshness. The tannins are just a touch too solid, but it yet again shows the brilliant quality in this vintage at different levels. The blend is 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. Drinking Window 2025 - 2040

Very dry and sour with grainy, tough tannins, this is a wine which is struggling to offer any juiciness right now and I cannot see this issue resolving. 15+?

Dark purplish crimson. Neat, focused aroma. Blackberry compote. Then a sweet start and very polished tannins with a dry but not drying finish. Successful. In a slightly minor key.
