Le très ancien château Lespault-Martillac est situé sur une superbe croupe de graves qui domine la commune de Martillac.

Depuis le millésime 2009, l’exploitation en est confiée au Domaine de Chevalier, Grand Cru Classé de Graves qui appartient à la famille Bernard. Ambition affichée par Olivier Bernard : révéler l’ampleur de son potentiel d’exception et confirmer sa vocation légitime à devenir l’un des joyaux de l’appellation.

Notes de dégustation

Nez charmeur et floral. Cocktail de fruits mûrs, de pêche de vigne, d’abricot et de fleur d’acacia. Bouche ample, charnue, onctueuse, puissante, de saveurs fruitées fraîches et énergiques. Cette superbe suavité est exacerbée par l’acidité et la fraîcheur d'agrume du sauvignon blanc. Vin intense, riche et raffiné, savoureux et très pur. Très belle tension en finale.

The 2023 Lespault-Martillac Blanc has quite a powerful bouquet with slightly oily citrus fruit, touches of lemon verbena coming through with time. Fine delineation. The palate is well balanced with bright acidity, again quite intense with impressive weight, though perhaps it just needs a little more tension on the finish. But I appreciate the pepperiness on the finish, and it should age well in bottle.

The 2023 Château Lespault-Martillac Blanc is another terrific white in the vintage. Honeyed orange blossom, pineapple, and minty, floral notes all emerge on the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with beautifully integrated oak, good acidity, and outstanding length. Based on 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, aging in one-third new barrels, it’s well worth your time and money.

Honeysuckle, white peaches, flowers, pineapples, orange rind, and vanilla show in the nose, as well as on the sweet, ripe, and creamy, round palate, finishing with a sweet touch of honey on top of the citrus in the finish. The wine blends 70%, old vine, Sauvignon Blanc with 30% Semillon. Drink from 2025-2030 92 Pts.

A fresh and chalky white with more verticality and firmness, yet still with a round, mouth-filling structure. Medium body. Attractive stone fruit and pear at the core. Shows tension and crunchiness. Soft at the end. 70% sauvignon blanc and 30% semillon.

The 2023 Lespault-Martillac Blanc was picked August 28 to September 5 at 45hL/ha. It has a well-defined bouquet that opens gradually in the glass, revealing hints of lime, fresh citrus peel and honeysuckle. The palate is nicely balanced with a fine bead of acidity. There’s fine weight to this Lespault-Martillac, with a dash of lemongrass toward the finish. Maybe it just needs a little more sustain, but otherwise, this is a very delicious dry white in the making.

As usual, the Lespault-Martillac 2023 Blanc shows an oaky, spicy character with aromas of lemon, lemongrass, herbs and lime tree leaves. Moderately weighted and round, it’s fleshy and charming on the mid-palate with bright acids and a long, ethereal finish. This blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon is a great effort.
