This fascinating wine is right up there at the top of the Aussie Chardy tree, and it is superbly complex and marvellously upholstered with generous oak and crazy levels of honeysuckle and orange blossom. It was the finest dry white wine of the day, showing just how grand Chardonnay is from this part of the world.

Empreinte boisée, des notes de citron, de fleurs et d'agrumes confits. Fraiche et enrobée, la bouche est équilibrée avec une pointe boisée très élégante. Dynamique et frais, c'est un vin de garde et de plaisir. Bravo ! 100 % chardonnay.

The 2020 Chardonnay slowly emerges from the glass with fantastically floral scents of orange blossoms and jasmine over a core of Bosc pears, white peaches, and grapefruit juice, plus suggestions of beeswax, marzipan, and chalk dust. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers incredible intensity with great purity and seamless freshness, framed by a satiny texture, revealing layer upon layers of citrus, stone fruit, and spiced pears notes, finishing with epic length and restraint. 3333 bottles of this extraordinarily singular wine were made.

So aromatic on the nose, fully evocative and inviting comprising buttery, honeyed citrus notes with subtle orange blossom. This is delicious, it has a lovely salinity to it, a crunch and crispness with a delicacy to the acidity and fruit. It's very neat and controlled with plenty of concentrated flavours; mineral, oyster shell, slate, pear, peach and nectarine, all presented with elegance and style. It perhaps didn't wow as much as the 2019 last year which I loved but there is such unmistakable quality here.

As ever, this is a smile and share Chardonnay from Will Berliner, with evident depths and beauty. The grip and tension are clear on the opening beats, and this tingles through the palate. Apricot pit, yellow peaches, sun-ripened, a little fleshy compared to the normal razor sharp character of this wine, but the sage, fennel and aniseed spice notes bring everything together, and sharper angles emerge with a short time in the glass. Skilful winemaking in a dry vintage, with hot weather meaning an early harvest from February 5 to 10. 3.49ph.

This decadently delicious 2020 Chardonnay immediately impresses with explosive aromas of vanilla cream, florals and just-picked nectarines with fantastic aromatic weight and volume. Packed full of marzipan, nutty oak and apricot flavours with a voluptuous texture, there is a perfectly balanced core of tangy acidity which keeps the energy high. A long, ripe and detailed finish tops what is a stunning package.
