Thierry Valette a repris cette propriété en avril 2000 après la vente de Château Pavie en 1998.
Dès le début, grâce à sa collaboration avec Stéphane DERENONCOURT (2000/2005), le cru se fait remarquer. Petit à petit, la démarche agrobiologique se précise. A partir de 2006 commencent les essais en Biodynamie qui se concrétisent par l’entrée dans le Groupe Biodyvin. Le but de la propriété est d’aller encore plus loin dans la stylistique qui a été lentement élaborée au fil des ans comme la meilleure traduction possible de leur terroir dans cette nouvelle donne climatique.

Millésime 2024

Marqué par un climat contrasté, avec un printemps pluvieux favorisant une forte pression des maladies, suivi d’un été plus sec mais sans excès de chaleur, la biodynamie, et en particulier la silice de corne (501), a été un élément indispensable pour apporter de la lumière à nos vignes, renforçant leur équilibre et la qualité des raisins. Malgré ces conditions difficiles, nous avons su révéler plus que jamais l’identité des terroirs de Puy Arnaud.

Vinification et note de dégustation :

La récolte tardive de 2024 a donné lieu à des vinifications douces pour préserver le fruit. Le Grand Vin 2024 se distingue par sa fraîcheur, son équilibre et sa complexité aromatique, avec des notes de fruits mûrs et une belle tension minérale. Son degré d’alcool modéré (13°), en phase avec les attentes du marché, favorise des fermentations nettes et rapides, apportant pureté et précision au vin. En bouche, la structure soyeuse, élégante, et l'acidité propre aux calcaires de Puy Arnaud, offrent une excellente buvabilité, nous promettant un millésime à la fois digeste et raffiné.

Based on 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Clos Puy Arnaud Grand Vin reveals ripe red and black fruits, classy vanilla oak, and floral, spicy notes. Medium-bodied, it has a charming, forward, pure, satisfying style that will drink well right out of the gate.

Leuchtendes Rubinrot; strahlende, verführerische Nase, wie oft mit floralen Noten, reifer Kirschfrucht, Pflaumen; seidenweich am Gaumen, knackige Frucht, feinkörniges Tannin, lebhafte Säure, mittlere Länge auf rote Beeren und florale Rückaromen. Sehr delikat!

The 2024 Clos Puy Arnaud feels a bit exaggerated on the nose, as if overcompensating for the shortfalls of the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with red cherry and strawberry fruit laced with orange zest, finishing in a fresh style that partly compensates for the aromatics. Hopefully it will improve in barrel.

The 2024 Clos Puy Arnaud is one of the revelations of the vintage. Deep, powerful and resonant, with no hard edges, the 2024 is positively stellar. Dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, pomegranate and rose petal stain the palate. Clos Puy Arnaud is without question one of the wines of this very challenging year. Considering that the property is 100% biodynamic, this performance, including yields of 45 hectoliters per hectare, is simply unreal. Élevage will be about 12 months in a combination of demi-muid, barrique, amphora and porcelain. The blend is 60% Cabernet Franc and 40% Merlot, quite a bit more Franc than usual.

The vintage’s fresh acidity brings energy and appeal without compromising the wine’s underlying seriousness and almost classical austerity.
