The 2016 Reynon is laced with the essence of sweet raspberry, spice and wild flowers. Élevage has brought out greater freshness and energy than the wine showed en primeur. Stylistically, the 2016 is a bit more floral and fresh than has been the case in t recent past. Tasted two times.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Reynon has a pretty perfume of roses and potpourri over a core of redcurrant jelly and mulberries plus a waft of cassis. Medium-bodied with a solid structure of chewy tannins, it has plenty of juicy red fruit and an earthy finish.

Of course, the 2016 Chateau Reynon will always be tinged with sadness as it was the year that proprietor Denis Dubourdieu passed away. This is quite upfront and bold on the nose and perhaps "glossier" than I expected. The palate is very tannic and firm on the entry with touches of tobacco and sea salt, grippy in the mouth. It is clearly a wine destined for the long-term, so afford it two or three years in bottle.

The 2016 Reynon is dark, fleshy and inviting. Black cherry, plum, lavender, chocolate, spice and mocha run through this succulent, juicy Merlot-based blend from the Dubourdieu family. The oak needs a bit of time to settle down. Otherwise, this is very nicely done. Once again, Reynon is shaping up to be a fine value. Tasted two times.
