L’année 2015 apparait comme la plus chaude et la plus ensoleillée, sur tout notre territoire, depuis le début des statistiques météorologiques. Une longue période caniculaire et sèche a permis une très bonne floraison jusqu’à l’arrivée, au mois d’août, de pluies miraculeuses. Grâce à cette pluie bienfaisante, la plante put accompagner ses raisins jusqu’à leur parfaite maturité. Les vendanges ont débuté avec un mois de septembre beau et ensoleillé. Grâce à ce temps idéal, nous avons pu attendre sereinement l’optimum pour tous les cépages. Toutes les conditions ont été réunies afin de permettre au 2015 de faire partie de la lignée des plus grands millésimes bordelais.

Très joli nez, expressif. Fruité et floral. Entrée en bouche savoureuse, avec de la fraîcheur. Évolution continue. Très jolie tannicité, fine et fruitée. Avec une bonne longueur.

The 2015 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion is a blend of 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon picked between 9 September until 1 October, harvested early to preserve the freshness of the Merlot and taking time to pick the Cabernet at optimal ripeness. The bouquet is tightly wound at the moment, but precise, revealing blackcurrant, cranberry and hints of marmalade scents with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with quite sturdy tannin on the entry that exert a firm grip, but there is more than enough fruit to back that all up. Touches of cedar and tobacco surface towards the second half and there is a sustained, chalky note on the finish that ensures that this a great deuxième vin. Drink 2019-2040

Tension and spice but tannins need some time to soften up. Always a beautiful sense of effortless confidence in this wine, no exception here, though not quite up to 2009 or 2010. 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 35% new oak; 34% of the total crop.

Silken, polished, ripe, round and packing layers of sweet, lushly textured fruits, smoke and tobacco, this medium/full-bodied wine ends with a long, fresh, ready, fruit-filled, finish. Made from a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 14.6% alcohol.

A deep, striking wine, the 2015 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion is laced with captivating scents of graphite, smoke, cured meats, herbs, melted road tar, leather and violets. Equally rich and ample on the palate, the 2015 exudes intensity, with a pedigreed expression of fruit and enough depth to drink well for a dozen or more years. All of the signatures of site come through in this beautifully crafted second wine from La Mission Haut-Brion. With time in the glass, the 2015 acquires finesse and nuance. Tasted two times.

Very rich, almost raisiny nose. Lots of (dried) fruity appeal. Pretty tough dried-grape impression on the finish. Not one of the most fluid wines from this stable! A bit of heat on the end. This wine may always be a bit of an anomaly.

Tiefes Purpur, satt in der Mitte, Granatschimmer am Rand. Wunderschön florale Noten, Backpflaumen und Teernuancen, zeigt bereits (als Zweitwein!) viel nasale Tiefe an. Im Gaumen sehr aromatisch, man merkt hier den hohen Cabernetanteil sehr gut, endet nachhaltig und elegant. Kein massiver Wein aber die Tannine sind hier erstaunlich ausgereift. Das könnte eine Affäre für ungeduldige Mission-Fans werden. 17/20 2020 – 2038
