Sings of fresh limes, green apples, and sea spray, plus nuances of chopped herbs and chalk dust. The light-bodied palate is crisp and vibrant with electric citrus flavors and a suggestion of silkiness to the texture, finishing long and chalky.

The 2024 Château Duhart-Milon Blanc is mostly Semillon with 35% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Sauvignon Gris. Juicy citrus, pineapple, and minty flowers, as well as a kiss of salinity, all emerge from this juicy, medium-bodied white that has nicely integrated acidity and outstanding length. As you would assume with this estate, it's impeccably made and will easily be an outstanding white that will be versatile on the dinner table.

Bright and zesty, with fine cream, green guavas and gooseberries. Bright, sharp and crisp, with a medium body and a long, expressive finish. A hint of salinity comes through with creaminess at the end. 62% semillon, 35% sauvignon blanc and 3% sauvignon gris.

The 2024 Le Blanc de Duhart-Milon, which debuted with the 2021 vintage, comes from 1.5 hectares of regrafted vines plus new plantings toward the east of Lafite-Rothschild on clay-limestone soils. Half of the malolactic conversion was done in barrel to gain volume with a low pH. At the moment, it aged in 50% used and 50% new barrels, although Eric Kohler mentioned that stainless steel may come online in the future. It has a clean and precise bouquet, with Anjou pear commingling with lime, nettle and hints of peach skin emerging with time. The palate is fresh and tensile, more than any previous vintages. This is not long, yet it is armed with plenty of energy. The limestone is more exposed in this vintage and I am intrigued to see how this ages in bottle.

The 2024 Le Blanc du Duhart is a very pretty Sémillon-driven white. Orchard fruit, slate, mint, chalk and white pepper lend a good deal of energy throughout. The 2024 is open-knit and quite gracious in style. I imagine the Blanc will become an even more complex and serious wine as the team gains experience with making white wine in the Médoc.

Honeysuckle, grapefruit, lemon rind, green apples, pears, and hints of white peaches create the complex nose and start off the palate. Juicy, sweet, and fresh, with a lean to the tropical fruit side, the wine is all about its lift, freshness, and purity. The wine blends 62% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc, and 3% Sauvignon Gris. Not much wine is made, with approximately 650 cases produced. Drink from 2027-2035.

“This is just the beginning!” said the Lafite team of the 2024 vintage of Le Blanc. But to me, it already feels like a debut at the summit. After three years of fine-tuning since its launch in 2021, the team has finally delivered a vintage that delights. Rather than chasing the typical crispness of Bordeaux whites, this wine, with 62% Sémillon, leans into a supple, graceful structure, offering a texture as silky as crystal jelly. Aromas of white peach, bergamot, and papaya are beautifully pitched, never overpowering, leaving room for the delicate floral notes of chamomile and acacia to unfurl, it’s like a breeze at dawn brushing past the petals of a newly opened blossom. Le Blanc 2024 brims with promise, and I have every confidence in its future.
