This 9% Chardonnay, 5% Chenin Blanc has aromas of toasted elements on the nose; charred oak, soft floral hints and cooked lemon, white blossom and subtle pastry notes. Smooth and supple on the palate with a juicy core and lots of energy straight away which nicely counters the quite thick, almost heavy texture. Feels quite serious, but the citrus fruit is so lean and precise, really crystalline giving this a focused and detailed edge which is quite delicious. Mouthwatering acidity and a long length, there's lots to like here. The first time on the Place de Bordeaux for this wine, owned by Vignoble Baron Philippe de Rothschild (of Château Mouton-Rothschild and Clerc Milon). Director Augustin Deschamps, winemaker Fabrice Boullier.

Creamy, rich and yet wonderfully pure, focused and precise. Quite floral and delicate at first on the nose with a salivating salinity and freshness. Everything about this is crystalline. Very pure. Very fine. The most vertical in its aromatic presentation of this little flight of vintages. This has a glorious shape and evolution across the palate in the mouth. Tighter and tenser from the start than the 2020, the freshness incorporated throughout rather than welling up from below. Very structured. A brilliantly gracious wine of great freshness – dense, like the 2020, but more compact, taut and tense. Incredibly long and incredibly linear … tapering in steps towards the finish (like descending a long mountain staircase). The finish is so dynamic and lively – one senses the health of the vineyard. The best Domaine de Baronarques I have ever tasted. 94.

A blend of 95% Chardonnay and 5% Chenin Blanc, the 2021 Domaine de Baronarques Blanc opens with notes of lemongrass and apple pie, giving way to coriander seed, sea spray, and nutmeg. The medium-bodied palate is elegant and refreshing with a savory finish.

Bright yellow colour with slightly green hue. Fragrant nose with aroma reminiscent of ripe apple and pear, juicy "Paraguayos" peaches, honeydew melon, white blossoms, lemon zests and hints of tropical fruit. Vanilla and discreet toasting in the background. On the palate wonderful tension, creamy texture in combination with crisp character, flavourful finish with convincing length.
