Superbe blanc, dans la lignée de ce qui est fait depuis 2011, millésime charnière où ils ont cherché à privilégier la fraîcheur. Il offre des notes d’agrumes très pures. C’est un style dynamique, élancé. « On travaille dur pour en faire un grand blanc de garde, mais aussi un vin avenant » souligne Sébastien Vergne, directeur technique. Et celui-ci ajoute : « Nous avons un rendement de 20hl/ha à peine et, encore, sur 12 ha de blanc, nous ne gardons qu’un tiers, ce
qui représente 10’000 bt par an. Pour comparaison, jusqu’en 2005, on produisait 3’000 caisses ».

Floral notes, honeydew, citrus peel, orange marmalade, green apple and lemon wax on the nose. The wine is rich, full bodied, silky and long, with freshness, vibrant energy and a refreshing blast of lemon, lime and tangerine in the honeyed, spicy finish.

The 2015 Pavillon Blanc de Château Margaux was cropped at 20 hl/ha and represents just one-third of the production, equivalent to around 10,000 bottles. It has a fresh lime cordial, apple blossom and white peach scented bouquet that is very seductive. The palate is well balanced with a keen thread of acidity, engendered by the cool nights in August and September. It is very harmonious with almond and a touch of stem ginger and sour lemon towards the finish, an accomplished Pavillon Blanc that should offer 10-15 years of pleasure.

Extremely rich nose. Racy and lively with a green streak. Deliberately more acidity than in the old days. Just finishes a little more suddenly than I expected.

Superb 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Lovely white flowers nose then lively and fresh on the palate, showing beautifully sappy, ripe flavours and a long, lifted finish.

The 2015 Pavillon Blanc, 100% Sauvignon Blanc, is bright, finely sculpted and classically understated in style. Citrus, white flowers, white pepper, mint and green pear abound. Weightless, translucent and also wonderfully taut, the Pavillon Blanc is one of the great white wines of the year. The nuanced, saline finish suggests the 2015 has a bright future.
