Vray Croix de Gay (BIO-ORGANIC) - Pomerol 2021

A new era for this jewel of Pomerol

In 2020, Les Terroirs de Suravenir, a subsidiary of the Arkea Credit Mutuel Group that already owns Château Calon Ségur, invested on the right bank by buying châteaux Prieuré, Vray Croix de Gay and Siaurac. True to their values, they have a long-term approach. In their ambitious development project, the teams are guided by the respect of history and the revelation of the potential of the terroir.

Château Vray Croix de Gay, in the heart of the Pomerol Appellation

Jewel of the collection, with an area of 3.67 hectares, Chateau Vray Croix de Gay is composed of 3 parcels, located on the Graves plateau, the best part of the appellation. The largest parcel is located between Pétrus and Château La Fleur

The vineyard has been certified in Organic Farming since 2018.

2021 vintage - Tasting notes

On the nose , fresh and complex , with delicate floral notes of violet and some black cherries.
On the palate, lovely black fruit flavors with subtle empyreumatic hints . A subtle, unctuous and elegant vintage to frink now or in a few years if you can wait

The 2021 Vray Croix de Gay seems to have just lost a bit of luster on the nose, showing earthy red fruit, touches of smoke and black truffle, though it needs a little more cohesion. The palate is well-balanced with a fresh entry, but it lacks a bit of sub

Fresh currants, red cherries, white pepper and some nice green olives on the nose. Quite juicy and medium-bodied on the palate with fine, silky tannins and a succulent finish. Not a rich Pomerol but it shows excellent balance. From organically grown grapes. Delicious now, but this should hold very well in the next five to six years.

On est immédiatement frappé par cette texture soyeuse, avec des flaveurs florales et une onctuosité relevée d'une pointe saline, qui se prolonge par une finale surprenante par sa longueur. Grand raffinement.

Soft-textured, chocolate-covered plums, licorice and sweet, black cherries show quite well on the nose and in the lush, polished, silky, dark-edged, plummy palate with a touch of chocolate that comes in on the endnote. The wine blends 80% Merlot with 20% Cabernet Franc. Drink from 2024-2042. 91-93

The 2021 Vray Croix de Gay is perfumed on the nose, offering truffle-tinged red fruit and a touch of damp, loamy soil. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh, leading to a light, slightly attenuated finish, yet it has plenty of freshness and should gain weight in barrel.

Helles Rubin, feiner Duft, delikate Fruchtnoten, Himbeeren, dazu dezent Kräuter.

Charming and sensual, the 2021 Vray Croix de Gay offers up aromas of plums, sweet berries and peonies, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless palate. A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, this generous Pomerol will offer a broad drinking window.
