The 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande has a more elegant, refined bouquet compared to its peers, a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar, iodine and violets, perhaps picked a little later? The palate is medium-bodied with a ferrous opening, and the tannins are a bit drier than I would have liked, though the overly spicy and persistent finish is complex. It will be intriguing to see how this ages further in bottle. This is a very positive showing for one of the most under-rated estates in Saint-Estèphe. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande has a very composed bouquet with blackberry, tar and tobacco, very well defined and developing more red fruit than black with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin that render this quite masculine in style. Yes, for certain it is quite austere but I admire the balance of this wine and it offers good substance on the finish. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

From the owners of Château Montrose, the 2014 Tronquoy Lalande is a beautifully ripe, pure, nicely concentrated, and classic wine from this estate that literally screams “Saint-Estèphe” in its dark currant and cassis fruits and notes of damp earth, tobacco, and underbrush. With a medium-bodied, reserved feel on the palate, it certainly has the 2014 vintage’s elegant, balanced style, as well as nicely integrated acidity and polished tannin. It doesn’t have the wow factor of the 2015 and 2016, but is a beautiful wine none the less that should blossom with 3-4 years of bottle age and keep for a decade or more.

The 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande has a crisp, graphite and black fruit nose, tightly wound with very fine precision. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, plenty of graphite and cedar infusing the black fruit, although I find the finish just a little clipped and lacking a little finesse compared to some of the other Saint Estèphes. Still, this has good potential, even if it is destined to remain in the shadow of its sibling, the 2014 Montrose.

Another big, dark St.-Estèphe, but in spite of the rich body and some perceptible alcohol, there is also a cool, minty note. Slightly sweet finish in spite of all the tannins. Spice comes through at the end. Drink in 2020.

Just as expressive from bottle as it was from barrel, the 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande is superb. Black cherry, plum, gravel, smoke, savory herbs, licorice and expressive floral notes abound in a rich, deeply textured Saint-Estèphe that will drink well with minimal cellaring. The plush, textured finish only adds to the wine's considerable appeal. Drink this pliant, expressive Saint-Estèphe over the next 15-20 years or more. This is a stellar showing. The blend is 56 % Merlot, 37 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Petit Verdot and 1 % Cabernet Franc. Tasted three times.

A pure, racy version, with an iron-edged frame that keeps the red currant and damson plum fruit very focused. Mouthwatering tobacco and wet pebble accents are inlaid on the pleasantly austere finish. Well done. Best from 2018 through 2024.

Nez épicé, réglisse, bouche vive, tendre, joli fruit, bouche douce, tendre, tanins éveilles en finale, assez frais malgré les 14°.

The 2014 Tronquoy-Lalande is gorgeous. Black cherry, plum, smoke, mocha, leather, menthol, cloves and iron meld together in a juicy, exuberant wine with considerable near and medium-term appeal. The bold, exuberant side of 2014 comes through in spades, especially on the creamy, textured finish. The blend is 56% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, with the high percentage of Merlot very much front and center. Overall, the 2014 is an exceptionally polished wine that punches above its weight.

It will be difficult to find a better wine for the money in from 2014. Chocolate covered black cherries and a hint of truffle set the perfume in motion. The texture is round on the palate with a satiating, sweet fruit finish. Produced from a blend of 56% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 13.7% alcohol. 91-92 pts

The Château Tronquoy-Lalande 2014 is a blend of 56% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. It has a pleasant nose with a light marine/saline influence upon the black fruit that needs to forage for a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannin on the entry, quite pointed acidity that segues into a classic, foursquare finish. This is good vigor here, although I would appreciate more finesse. It did not help that this was tasted next to the superlative Montrose 2014.

Pretty nose of fresh blackberry and spices. Nice concentration and good depth of flavors - 56% Merlot in this vintage with softness and approachability. Tannins are ripe and round with supple texture. This is a well made Tronquoy-Lalande.

Very polished nose and fruit that shows Montrose's management. A smoky, leathery wine of character and class. Drink: 2018-2028 (90)

56% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. Notably deep crimson. Well-mannered glossy nose with classical, not-too-sweet notes. Very charming and vibrant even if without the tannic charge for a very long life. A little drying on the end. Cuts off a bit suddenly. Drink 2019-2025 (16+)

17/20 2022 – 2038

91–93. Barrel Sample. Fruit forward, this wine shows ripe blackberries and dark plums on the palate. It exudes a richness that is contrasted by intense acidity and lifted fruit flavors.   — R.V.  (4/1/2015)

Features a flattering core of blackberry and black cherry fruit, lined with just enough charcoal and singed apple wood hints to stay honest. Reveals a pleasantlyrustic edge on the finish.
