The Wine Palate
byLisa Perrotti-Brownthe4/9/2026
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Sarget de Gruaud Larose strolls out of the glass with casual, easy-going scents of fresh blackberries and juicy black plums, opening out to suggestions of mint tea, fallen leaves, and wild sage, with a hint of wet slate. The light- to medium-bodied palate is silky-textured, with lively acidity and bright black fruit flavors, finishing with a savory lift. The blend is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40.5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3.5% Petit Verdot.
