Saintayme - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2024
Saintayme, the signature of the Durantou familyDenis Durantou passed away in 2020 and was one of the greatest winemakers of the right bank. His daughters are proudly taking over the estate and honoring this heritage. The Durantou family is also owner of Château l’Eglise Clinet in Pomerol.
The vineyard of 9 ha is hold in one block. Located in Saint-Etienne-de-Lisse, it is a beautiful terroir made of clayey-gravelly soil. The Merlot profile is really reflected in the wines: nice fruitiness, the tannins are fleshy and silky at the same time.
Vintage 2024:
“In 2024, although the vines were slowed down by continuous rainfall and insufficient sunshine despite summer heat, we were nevertheless able to vinify a vintage with the mathematical elegance and luminous precision of a French formal garden.”
— Noëmie Durantou, Estate Director & Winemaker
Tasting Notes:
“Vintage 2024 offers a myriad of aromas and flavors. From the red fruits and fern of Saintayme to the medlar and acacia of La Chenade, we journey toward the vetiver and creamy mouthfeel of Les Cruzelles. The peppery, apricot-toned Montlandrie gives way to the velvety rhubarb and cherry of La Petite Église. The apotheosis belongs to L’Église Clinet, bathed in notes of orgeat syrup, vanilla, and truffle.”
— Marie Reilhac Durantou, Co-Manager
