The 2018 Rol Valentin is a heady, extroverted wine. Super-ripe red cherry, plum, spice, cedar, new leather and tobacco race across the palate as this unabashedly flamboyant Saint-Émilion shows off its sexy personality. Gorgeous, deep aromatics help balance some of the opulence. The 2018 is not exactly shy, but it sure is alluring.

Mostly Merlot (there's a splash of Malbec and Cabernet Franc), the 2018 Château Rol Valentin is a perfumed, floral Saint-Emilion with lots of wild strawberry and blueberry fruit as well as notes of violets and orange blossom, medium to full body, ripe, polished tannins, and just a balanced, elegant, yet still ripe, sexy style. It's going to benefit from just a handful of years of bottle age and keep for 15 years or more.

Fresh, soft, elegant, refined, medium-bodied and with loads of ripe, red fruits, dark cherries, flowers, earth and coffee bean on the nose, palate and silky finish. This is probably best in its first 12-15 years of life.

The 2018 Rol Valentin has quite a perfumed bouquet of black cherries, red currant, rose petals and a light estuarine influence; good definition here. The palate is medium-bodied with brisk tannins, quite assertive and citrus-fresh. There is just a touch of herbaceousness, especially toward the finish, although I suspect that will dissipate with time. This is a less opulent Rol Valentin compared to other vintages, and one I suspect will age well in bottle.

Ripe cherries, crushed berries, violets, mocha and sweet tobacco on the nose. It’s full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins. Very tight and reserved with lovely, layered structure. Try from 2024.

Propriété de 7,3ha composée de coteaux argilo-calcaires. Elevage de 14 à 16 mois dont 50% en fûts. Les vendanges se sont déroulées entre le 29 septembre et le 7 octobre. Bouquet de bonne intensité alliant la fraîcheur, l'élevage et les notes fruitées. Caractère friand et invitant en bouche. Le vin est fin, équilibré et affiche des tannins parfaitement intégrés tandis que la structure assure la vivacité en coulisse. Un vin sapide que l'on pourra déjà apprécier dans sa jeunesse.

The 2018 Rol Valentin is deep garnet-purple colored and gives up baked plums, warm cherries and mulberries scents with touches of spice box, forest floor and cigar box plus a waft of black olives. Full-bodied, rich and packed with berry preserves, it has a chewy frame and nice freshness, finishing spicy.
