R DE RIEUSSEC, the revival of an Affranchi.
R is the dry white Bordeaux produced by Rieussec. Demanding, it has a quiet strength and character. Elegant and discreet, it has a touch of impertinence. This sure value will seduce you with its finesse and nuances. R embodies the Rieussec's philosophy: precise and friendly, sharp, straightforward, fresh and lively.
In its quest for perfection and freedom, R is adorned with new packaging; it takes a step aside and frees itself from any Bordeaux code. The bottle, inspired by the Burgundian ones, is made of recycled glass. The opacity of this bottle, which makes it less polluting, serves as a protective screen for the wine inside. The new logo, at once sober, elegant, free and facetious, perfectly embodies the personality of this wine as well as that of Saskia de Rothschild and her team, who have achieved a great success with this wine.
The 2024 vintage
The 2024 vintage was marked by a very rainy winter, with over 600 mm of rainfall and mild temperatures. The light frost in April had no major consequences. However, the persistent mildness and regular rainfall in April and May led to strong mildew pressure, particularly on the Sauvignon vines. Flowering experienced some coulure and millerandage, though not as significantly as in the red varieties. After a rather hot and dry summer, ripening was slow. The harvest began in August.
Tasting notes
R de Rieussec offers an expressive and complex nose of citrus and white-fleshed fruits, enhanced by a floral touch. On the palate, it reveals a round and pure attack thanks to its delicate oakiness. Its freshness confers a beautiful tension.
The finish is supported by a gentle bitterness and an almost saline minerality.
