Puyblanquet - Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2023
Puyblanquet, back to the origins of the Malet Roquefort family.
The Malet Roquefort family is one of the oldest in Saint-Emilion, where it has been established since 1705. The family owns Château La Gaffelière, a former Premier Grand Cru Classé. In 2020, Château Puy-Blanquet joined the prestigious family collection.
The property had already belonged to the family 60 years ago, but in spite of their sentimental attachment to it, they were forced to sell it. In 2020, a happy twist of fate gives Alexandre de Malet Roquefort the opportunity to restore the family's wine heritage.
The 19 ha vineyard is situated on a beautiful clay and limestone slope. From the outset, Alexandre de Malet Roquefort has adopted the same virtuous practices as Château La Gaffelière: agroforestry, cover crops, vineyard restructuring... This is the beginning of a new and very promising chapter in the history of the estate.
The 2023 Vintage:
After an even flowering in spring and a summer marked by a few rainy spells, the harvest started at the beginning of September. The Merlots required a fairly long ripening period, while the Cabernet Francs, which usually ripen later, took advantage of the magnificent autumn to reach perfect maturity.
