Lots of violets, blue fruits, and spicy oak notes define the 2021 Château Prieuré-Lichine, which shows more red fruits and sandalwood notes with time in the glass. Medium-bodied, elegant, and pretty, it's a classic Margaux in the making that will shine for its complexity and nuance more than outright power or richness.

The biggest highlight of Prieuré-Lichine 2021 is its soft texture, resulting from the improved maceration technique (softer maceration and shorter period). The fruit is pure, the acidity is crisp, and the mouthfeel quite soothing. I love the light chalky texture on the finish, this salty aftertaste makes you mistake it for the Cabernet Franc from the right bank. I believe it would have been even better if the warmth had been better integrated into the body. The 2021 Prieuré-Lichine has an understated bouquet of slightly earthy red fruit, tobacco and sage. The taut, fresh palate is medium-bodied with a slightly angular entry and fine acidity. Not a powerful or complex Margaux, but it respects the limitations of the growing season, so there is freshness and brightness.

Purpurrot. Feinduftig und floral, eher kühl, dezent rauchige Nase, man scheint das Terroir zu riechen. Im Gaumen klar und rein, feine Frucht, gute Säure, die Tannine sind von guter Qualität, überborden nicht, der Wein hat eine gute Balance und endet mittellang in einem anregenden Himbeerfinale. Joli bouquet avec des notes de fruits noirs, de fruits frais, de fleurs et une trame épicée très agréable. Pointe de fusain et de graphite à l'aération, pour un bouquet qui devient plus terrien. Le velouté en bouche est un peu amoindri par un boisé présent mais les tanins sont en place, l'équilibre est légèrement tannique ce qui serre l'ensemble.

The 2021 Prieuré-Lichine shows promise, exhibiting aromas of sweet berries, petals, loamy soil and cigar wrapper. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, with ripe tannins and a fleshy core of fruit, it's a fine-boned, nicely balanced wine that concludes with a persistent finish.
