A green haven nestled in the heart of the Médoc

For over 20 years, the Bernard family has poured all their passion and energy into this gem of the Haut-Médoc, superbly situated on a gravelly ridge just a few kilometers from Pauillac. Château Peyrabon stands proudly amidst its vineyard, with a vine-lined avenue leading to its magnificent Renaissance-style building.

In 2022, Château Peyrabon was acquired by the Castéja family, owners of other renowned estates such as Châteaux Batailley and Lynch Moussas.

Château Peyrabon 2022 has a delicate, soft mouthfeel that is truly delightful. It exudes a fragrance of graphite and pencil lead, hiding a few mature blueberry fruits and herbal aromas, The character of Cabernet Sauvignon is notably pronounced. Although its acidity is not particularly striking, its balance is pretty good. After bottling, it will undoubtedly become even more rounded and attractive.

Rich plum in colour, with the right kind of austerity to the tannic architecture that suggests it has plenty of ageing ability. Good balance, cassis, spice box, cigar, tobacco leaf, firm tannins, impressive. On the border of Pauillac, owned by the Casteja family of Borie Manoux since September 2022, making them responsible for the vinification and ageing of this 2022 vintage. 30% new oak, sandy gravel over clay, 19.9hl/h yield. Director Xavier Michelet, Axel Marchal consultant. One point upscore since En Primeur.

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot Beaucoup de finesse dans le bouquet de Peyrabon avec de délicates notes de myrtilles, de sureau et d'eucalyptus ainsi que des effluves de réglisse et de fèves de cacao. De densité médiane, le vin dispose de tannins puissants, aux grains fins, qui offrent une excellente assise à l'ensemble du palais. Un vin élégant que l'on pourra certainement déjà apprécier jeune, mais il mérite quand même un peu d'épanouissement. 2028-2042 92/100

The 2022 Peyrabon offers a slightly more floral bouquet than its peers, with lush black cherry and boysenberry fruit aromas in a generous style. The medium-bodied palate has a sweet entry and is fleshy and savory, with a touch of spice and clove on the finish. I actually prefer the aromatics to the palate at the moment.

The 2022 Peyrabon has an attractive bouquet with blackberry and blueberry fruit, quite floral in style. The palate is slightly granular in texture, fine backbone, subtle mineralité and delicacy with a sense of brightness on its charming finish. Exactly what I want from my Haut-Médoc.

A dark nose, rich and ripely scented with dark fruits, blackcurrants, damsons and herbal accents. Lean and taught, a nice structure, clean and well presented, sleek but nicely textured with grippy, stoney tannins that coat the mouth. Structured and intense but also linear and streamlined with mouthwatering acidity offsetting the density and giving an appealing push of energy. Nice balance of quality and value. First vintage since the Casteja family bought the estate in June 2022. Harvest 16 September-4 October. Yield of 19.9hl/ha. Ageing in French oak for 14 months, 30% new. 3% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Tasted twice.

Made from 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2022 Peyrabon is deep garnet-purple in color. It rolls out with expressive notes of blackberry preserves, warm cassis, and plum preserves, plus hints of damp soil and mossy tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is coated with ripe black berries and earthy flavors with a soft texture and lifted finish.

Le bouquet de Peyrabon est marqué par une très belle expression fruitée ainsi que des nuances épicées. Le vin a un profil juteux, élégant, bien tenu par la fraîcheur de la structure acide tandis que les tannins offrent un peu de vigueur. Un vin frais doté d'un bon potentiel de garde. Sa finale doit quelque peu s'arrondir. Elle en aura le temps durant l'élevage !

Peppery blackberries, leafy herbs and cedar form the personality here. Medium-bodied, round and fruity, this is already an easy pleasure to taste. Loads of fruit and a touch of menthol show in the finish. Drink from 2025-2030.
