The 2018 Moulin Saint-Georges is packed with inky blue fruit, lavender, spice, mocha and licorice. Succulent and racy to the core, the 2018 offers tons of immediacy and charm. Silky tannins, soft curves and tons of sheer allure make Moulin Saint-Georges a terrific choice for drinking now and over the next two decades. This joyous Saint-Émilion is a jewel of a wine.

Composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Moulin Saint-Georges has a medium to deep garnet-purple color, rolling effortlessly out of the glass with notes of black cherry compote, blueberry preserves and ripe plum, plus touches of pencil shavings and fallen leaves. The medium-bodied palate is coated with crunchy black fruits, supported by a racy line and just enough textural friction, finishing long and savory. It's delicious right now, but I suspect 5-7 years of cellaring is going to reveal a whole other pleasure level. 93+

Flowers, herbs, spice, smoke, licorice and ripe red pit fruits are all over the place. Medium-bodied, soft and silky, with freshness, length and purity. Made from a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

The 2018 Moulin Saint-Georges has a broody, introspective bouquet, so I allowed it 90–120 minutes to open. It reveals enticing blackberry, seaweed and light graphite notes with aeration, perhaps a little more sophisticated than recent vintages of the Vauthier family’s estate. The immediate impression on the palate is the texture, which is satin-like and very harmonious. Veins of blue fruit infuse the black, and blood orange surfaces toward the finish, which is almost Burgundy in style. A wonderful Moulin Saint-Georges that will be difficult to resist.

Vignoble de 7ha sur sols argilo-calcaire. Élevage en barriques durant 18 mois. Beaucoup d'élégance et de subtilité dans ce bouquet. Il révèle des nuances fruitées et une agréable fraîcheur florale. En bouche le vin se distingue par les mêmes caractéristiques qu'au nez ; il est subtil et élégant. Légère sucrosité en attaque et excellente structure tannique qui se révèle en crescendo pour atteindre son amplitude en fin de bouche. Un vin précis, linéaire doté d'un bon potentiel de garde. Très belle réussite.

Ripe black plum, cocoa, flowers and black cherry create the nose. On the palate, the wine is round, polished, ripe and fleshy with soft, silky tannins and a fruity finish. Made from a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the harvest was picked from September 28 to October 9.

Blended of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2018 Moulin Saint-Georges is deep purple-black colored and opens slowly to display notions of sautéed herbs, menthol and pencil shavings over a core of chocolate-covered cherries, baked plums and cedar plus a waft of potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is elegantly played with lively, juicy fruit framed by plush tannins and finishes with a floral skip in its step.

While there is a dry core to this wine, it's the showy black currant fruits that shine on the crisp texture. Fruit and freshness come together to create a structured wine that also has a fine lift.
