Surpassing the expectations formed at the en primeur stage, the 2023 La Mission Haut-Brion unfurls in the glass with aromas of cassis, dark berries, spices, licorice, burning embers and pencil shavings. Medium- to full-bodied, ample and velvety, it is suave and seamless, built around a perfectly controlled, dense core of fruit framed by powdery, structuring tannins and lively acidity, extending into a long, seemingly endless and ethereal finish. The blend comprises 52.7% Merlot, 29.6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17.7% Cabernet Franc.

A blend of 52.7% Merlot, 29.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 17.7% Cabernet Franc, La Mission Haut-Brion 2023 has a pH of 3.70 and a deep garnet-purple color. It prances out of the glass with fragrant notes of ripe plums, boysenberries, and Bing cherries, opening out to a wonderfully evocative nose of sandalwood, fragrant soil, iron ore, and rose oil. The full-bodied palate is packed with ripe, opulent black fruit and exotic spice layers, lifted by red-berry accents and ferrous sparks, framed by velvety tannins and seamless freshness, and finishing with epic length.

Absolute classic La Mission sexiness and opulence emerge from the 2023 Château La Mission Haut-Brion, a blend of ripe red and black currants, flowery incense, spice, tobacco, and subtle smoky notes. It's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, sweet tannins, and outstanding length. This deep, rich, multi-dimensional La Mission will shine with just 4-5 years of bottle age and cruise for 30+ years. Drink 2029-2059.

Aromatically explosive and nuanced, the 2023 La Mission Haut-Brion is magnificent. It's silky, nuanced and exceptionally polished. I underestimated it from barrel. The blend includes 17% Cabernet Franc, among the highest ever here, and that comes through in the wine's explosiveness. The 2023 has come along beautifully over the last few years. What a fabulous surprise.

The 2023 La Mission Haut-Brion, which according to Jean-Philippe Delmas contains the highest contribution of Cabernet Franc ever (17%), has closed up a little since bottling, yet it gradually unfolds with mainly black fruit, black olive, touches of gravel and tobacco in the background. Quite complex, yet discrete. The palate is framed by edgy but finely chiselled tannins. Lovely balance and focus, quite strict and linear with just the right amount of grip on the finish. Sophisticated and persistent, this is a superb La Mission Haut-Brion.

Aromas of graphite. black currants, black cherries, blueberries, gravel and stones. Medium-bodied with muscular yet polished tannins that show tension. So classic, with a super-long, seamless finish. Salty and spicy at the end. 52.7% merlot, 29.6% cabernet sauvignon and 17.7% cabernet franc. Best after 2029.

Dieses kleine Weingut in Lalande de Pomerol verfügt über einen 2 ha großen Weinberg, der aus Lehm- und Schluffböden mit einer eisenhaltigen Unterschicht besteht. Das Bouquet offenbart sich diskret mit eleganten Fruchtnoten, die durch einen erfrischenden Hauch von Garrigue ergänzt werden. Gute Dichte am Gaumen, wo sich der Wein durch seine Balance und seine seidigen, subtil herben Tannine auszeichnet, die den aromatischen Ausdruck im Abgang unterstützen. Ein eleganter Wein, den man schon in seiner Jugend genießen kann.

One of the finest wines in the vintage, the 2023 Château La Mission Haut-Brion is based on 52.7% Merlot, 29.6% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc. It's one hell of a gorgeous wine offering a massive nose of black raspberries, graphite, liquid flowers, scorched earth, and chocolate-like aromas and flavors. It delivers remarkable purity, full-bodied richness, no hard edges, and fine-grained, sweet tannins. The overall balance paired with opulence here is something to behold, and it’s incredible to find this level of quality in the vintage.
