The 2018 Manoir de Gay is a racy, succulent Pomerol. Bright red cherry, plum, tobacco, cedar and licorice are endowed with notable intensity in a Pomerol that shows the exuberant side of the vintage off nicely. Red cherry, plum, tobacco, cedar, new oak and dried flowers add complexity. This is an especially bold style, and it works very well.

The second wine of Château Le Gay and a wine you don’t see very often, the 2018 Château Manoir De Gay certainly impressed. It’s a full-bodied, rich, incredibly pure Pomerol that has the vintage richness and power paired with beautiful fruit and balance. Notes of graphite, smoked black fruits, and earthy minerality all emerge from the glass, and I can’t imagine this not drinking well in its youth. Nevertheless, it should evolve nicely given its purity and balance.

The deep purple-black colored 2018 Manoir de Gay reveals plum preserves, fruitcake and dark chocolate scents with touches of dusty soil, tobacco and woodsmoke. Full-bodied and jam-packed with baked berries and plush tannins, it has a lovely spark of freshness on the finish.

Le Manoir de Gay représente une surface viticole de 4ha avec une densité de plantation assez élevée puisqu’elle atteint 9 900 pieds/ha. 39hl/ha de rendement pour le millésime 2018. Rouge grenat aux reflets violets. Bouquet invitant, révélant des notes de bois de réglisse, de myrtilles et de violettes. Attaque soyeuse et fruitée. Caractère friand et équilibré. Le vin est déjà très invitant, gourmand et pourra être savouré dans sa jeunesse. 2020-2026

This is a good, easy drinking Pomerol – sexy, round, a little tight with oak notes that dominate the attack but soften into tarry chocolate richness. It’s gourmet, approachable and enjoyable - no need to wait too long but has a kick of freshness though the close of play. Vignobles Péré Vergé.
