Malartic Lagravière rouge - Pessac-Léognan 2016
Malartic Lagravière, a Modern-Day Adventure
In 1996, the "Malartic Lagravière" estate charted a new course with the arrival of the Bonnie family. Jean-Jacques and Séverine Bonnie, representing the new generation, now steer this Grand Cru Classé de Graves, infusing the estate with a fresh dynamism as it enters a new era. Under their leadership, the wines have gained exceptional prestige and radiance.
Protected by the pine forests of the Landes, the Château Malartic-Lagravière vineyard sits mainly on one of the region’s most beautiful gravel hills, known for its fine gravel soils, mixed with shelly limestone and clay.
The 2016 Vintage: The Expression of a Great Bordeaux
The 2016 vintage of Malartic-Lagravière stands out for its bold character, richness, and balance. Exceptional weather conditions, with a hot and dry summer, enabled an ideal ripeness and tannic structure perfect for aging this vintage.
Ranked in James Suckling’s Top 100 wines, he described it as, “This is so linear and refined with compacted fruit and superb tannin texture. The length and beauty grab you immediately and make you pay attention. Wait and see.”
