Magnum Castle Rahoul - Graves - 2010
The "historic" vineyards of the property stretch over a pretty plateau of 20 hectares around the castle. To this unit are added the vineyards of the "plateau des moulins" at Cérons and "Jeansotte" at Saint-Selve. Soil studies linked to the program of restructuring of the vineyard initiated in 2008 make it possible to refine the match between the terroir, the rootstocks and the best adapted grape varieties. Nature and climate were very favorable in 2010. The water balance, comparable to 2005 or 2009, generated small bays from the beginning. This results in a natural concentration of tannins, anthocyanins, sugars and acidity. The sunshine and mild temperatures of the summer, limiting the degradation of the natural acids of the grape, allowed to maintain an excellent ratio alcohol / concentration and acidity, essential to the perfect balance of a great wine. The old Merlots are superbly colored. Les Cabernets and Petit-Verdots, which have benefited from a magnificent after-season, are simply grandiose!
