Château Laroze 2022, unbelievably delicious! While it’s commonly believed that sandy and clay soils would struggle against the drought of the 2022 vintage, this wine shows us the “realm of fresh fruit cultivated by a hot year.” Swirl the glass, and the fresh fragrance of orchids dances with the sweet and tangy berry notes, making each encounter with the palate a joy. The 2022 vintage is, without a doubt, the most memorable Château Laroze I’ve tasted in recent vintages, and I highly recommend it to wine lovers.

Crushed roses and redcurrant, plenty of vivid fruit character and lift, enjoyable, not overly sweet, errs on the side of savoury blue and black fruits, still with plenty of depth through mid palate, good stuff, whisp of gunsmoke on the finish. 65% new oak, with the rest in jarres and stainless steel. 27ha of vines around the château, Gurchy family back to 1610, now Gurchy-Meslin.

Rocking levels of black cherries, spicy herbs, tobacco, and cedar all shine in the 2022 Château Laroze, a medium to full-bodied, juicy, lively 2022 that has balanced tannins, terrific balance, and outstanding length. A blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 70% new oak, it will drink nicely through 2042.

Laroze ne s'est encore jamais révélé rapidement et ce n'est pas en 2022 que cela change. Par contre, il affiche d'emblée un excellent niveau. Les notes de griottes et de lard fumé évoquent le temps de quelques secondes des terroirs Chambolle-Musigniresques avant que le cassis et les notes de réglisse nous ramènent à St-Emilion. Fin et légèrement crémeux, le vin profite de l'apport précieux d'une acidité structurante qui assure la fraîcheur, tandis que les tannins confèrent puissance et tenue. Un vin subtil et élégant que l'on pourra apprécier durant son évolution, soit dans sa jeunesse et dans la force de l'âge. 2026-2047 94/100

The 2022 Laroze presents a rather oaky nose, with the wood not as assimilated as some of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. Again, the wood proves too forceful, dominating the finish. This could have been a fine Saint-Émilion, but it feels as if it has been pushed too hard in the winery.

This fragrant and layered red has notes of roasted black fruit, coffee beans, violets and dried chilis. It’s full-bodied but very fresh, with sleek and polished tannins and a long finish. Try from 2027.

The 2022 Laroze is a very pretty, understated Saint-Émilion. Kirsch, mocha, sweet spice and pipe tobacco are some of the notes that grace this soft, inviting wine from Laroze. Silky contours wrap it all together, conferring finesse and immediacy. This is very nicely done.

A serious and bold wine from the start with the clear acidity quickly replaced by firm tannins and sticky liquorice that gives a gourmet feel and puts the power and concentration of the vintage at the fore. Keeps a linear structure though, it doesn't feel too heavy in terms of tannic weight, just rich and opulent in the fruit profile. Loses a touch of energy and spark on the finish but this has nice elements with plenty of muscles and acidity to see it through. Harvest 15-29 September, ageing 14 months 55% new French oak barrels, 35% stainless steel, 10% amphora. Jean-Philippe Fort consultant.

Château Laroze 2022 - nicely delicious! It was already so fresh and tasty during En Primeurs, so imagine how heavenly it will be after bottling? While many believe that soils with sand and clay are unable to withstand the droughts of 2022, this wine shows us what it means to reach the "realm of fresh fruit brewed in a hot vintage". As the wine dances in the glass, the fresh aroma of orchids lingers with the sweet and sour of berries, and every sip leaves you feeling in high spirits. Without a doubt, 2022 is the most unforgettable year of Château Laroze that I have tasted in many years.

The 2022 Laroze offers strawberry compote and kirsch on the nose, moderate intensity, just requiring a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and nicely balanced, with better details of mocha and dark chocolate notes. It just lacks some precision on the finish, but should offer pleasure over the next decade.

Enjoyable, with smoked earth, blackberry, bilberry and loganberry fruit, edges of coffee bean and liqourice, a little bitter on the finish but overall this is good quality and enjoyable. 55% new oak.

The 2022 Laroze is deep garnet-purple in color. A little subdued to begin, it needs some swirling to coax out notes of black cherries and blackberry preserves, plus hints of violets, cinnamon toast, and garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich and seductive, with plush tannins and a long, spicy finish. This is very pretty!

Château Laroze se révèle toujours de manière filigrane et un peu sur la retenue en primeurs. On le sait, donc cela demande à l'aborder avec un peu plus de temps. Il affiche une subtilité convaincante au travers de sa pluralité avec des nuances de cassis et de menthe poivrée suivies d'une touche florale. En bouche, Laroze continue dans sa logique progressive. Il se révèle peu à peu pour finalement afficher des tannins compacts, parfaitement intégrés qui offrent une belle assise à l'ensemble du palais. Un vin vif et harmonieux avec une touche de fraîcheur et de salinité en finale. Belle réussite.

Red plums, violets, candied orange, and spicy notes all emerge from the 2022 Château Laroze, a medium to full-bodied, elegant Saint-Emilion. I like its overall balance, and it has terrific purity of fruit as well as outstanding length. I think just 4-5 years of cellaring will be warranted, but this is rock-solid. 91-93+

The 2022 Laroze is a soft, forward Saint-Émilion. Sweet red berry fruit, flowers and sweet spice grace the soft, understated finish. This fruit, open-knit Saint-Émilion is a real charmer. Tasted two times. Drinking window : 2025-2037
