Opulent and racy, the 2018 Laroze hits all the right notes. Cinnamon, new leather, lavender and cedar add gorgeous aromatic top notes to a core of succulent red cherry fruit. Soft contours add immediacy and allure throughout. Best of all, the 2018 will drink well with minimal cellaring.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Laroze comes prancing out of the glass with exuberant scents of black cherry preserves, wild blueberries and black raspberries, plus wafts of cedar chest, rose oil and cinnamon toast with a touch of cardamom. The medium-bodied palate is soft and elegantly styled, featuring lovely freshness and a long fragrant finish.

The 2018 Château Laroze is one heck of powerhouse Saint-Emilion based on 62% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up in (I believe) 70% new French oak. Lots of ripe cassis and black raspberry fruit as well as scorched earth, tobacco, espresso roast, and chocolaty notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, nicely textured 2018 with some textbook minerality, ripe tannins, and a great finish. This beautiful, powerful, yet elegant Saint-Emilion needs 2-4 years to integrate its oak yet should shine for 15+ years from cold cellars.

Floral and fresh, the black raspberries, spice and plums already show really well today. Medium-bodied, soft, polished and silky, the wine tastes and feels great. There is good freshness and energy here.

The 2018 Laroze has a tightly wound bouquet that is just missing a bit of flow, a bit of amplitude. It almost reluctantly opens to reveal light graphite and pressed iris scents. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. There is good fruit concentration, the blackberry and bilberry scents laced with white pepper and black olive notes, especially on the sapid finish. This needs a couple of years in bottle, but I suspect it will turn into a fine Saint-Émilion.

Le bouquet de Laroze se révèle avec subtilité, lentement. Il affiche une agréable fraîcheur ainsi que des notes fruitées telles que framboises et cerises. Légèrement crémeux en bouche, le vin a du muscle et un peu de chair. Il est bien soutenu par ses tannins aux grains fins et par sa structure. Il mérite un peu de garde afin de s'épanouir.

Blackberry, blackcurrant and dried-mushroom aromas. Medium to full body, tight and creamy tannins and a reserved, fruity finish. Another couple of years in the bottle will pull this together nicely. Try after 2023.

Toutes mènent à un Saint-Émilion opulent, à la texture mûre et sexy, aux tanins doux et sans fermeté sur les contours . C’est une année 2018 puissante et concentrée qui a beaucoup à offrir. Laissez les bouteilles quelques années en cave et profitez-en quand vous le voudrez pendant les 15 prochaines années ou plus.
A blockbuster in the making, the 2018 Château Laroze is a solid step up over the 2016 and should match or surpass the 2015. Ripe black fruits, chocolate, spicy oak, and some earthy notes all give way to a full-bodied Saint-Émilion that has a ripe, sexy texture, sweet tannins, and no hard edges. It’s a powerful, concentrated 2018 that has loads to love. Give bottles a few years in the cellar and enjoy any time over the following 15 years or more.

Le Laroze 2018 est superbe. De vives notes de lavande et de menthe confèrent au 2018 un nez explosif, particulièrement relevé et parfumé. Moyennement corsé, pourtant résonant et très expressif, doté de nombreuses structures de soutien, le 2018 a beaucoup à offrir. Dégusté trois fois.
The 2018 Laroze is superb. Bright lavender and mint notes give the 2018 a distinctly lifted, perfumed quality that is striking. Medium in body, yet resonant and super-expressive, with plenty of supporting structure, the 2018 has so much to offer. Tasted three times.

Deep purple-black in color, the 2018 Laroze bursts from the glass with warm plums, baked cherries and mulberries with hints of chocolate box, tapenade and camphor. Full, rich and opulent with bags of black fruit preserves and spicy sparks framed by velvety tannins, it finishes with a peppery lift.

Couleur intense, sombre et belle. Nez fin, fruité, pur, mûr, solaire et frais. Minutieux en entrée de bouche, aérien au milieu, suave, le vin se met à fondre, savoureux, juteux, frais, sur un corps pourtant tendu qui s'achève sur des arômes complexes dans la persistance. Une très belle réussite. Il est probable qu’il intègre des vignes plantées à 10 000 pieds/ha.

Careful in mouthful, airy in the middle, suave, the wine melts, tasty, juicy, fresh, on a yet tense body that ends on complex aromas in persistence. A very beautiful success. It is likely that it includes vines planted at 10,000 vines / ha.

Pourpre violacé. Le bouquet de Laroze se révèle lentement. Il est un peu sur la retenue mais laisse apparaître de subtiles notes fruitées et épicées telles que myrtilles ainsi qu’une touche d’anis. Au palais, le vin est friand et crémeux. Il est doté de tannins aux grains fins qui sont parfaitement intégrés et en harmonie avec la structure qui confère de la race et de la tension en fin de bouche. Finale fruitée et persistante. Un vin de caractère qui a tout pour aller dans le temps.
