Joanin Bécot - Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux 2019

Joanin Bécot is one of the pioneering estates that led to the rise of the Castillon appellation. It was created in 2001 by Juliette Bécot.
Acclaimed since this inaugural vintage for its superlative quality, Joanin has reached new highs since 2017, thanks to a new impulse from Juliette who signs, with 2019, her best vintage yet.

Juliette Bécot (also of Château Beau-Séjour Bécot in Saint-Émilion) has done great work in this vintage! The 2019 Joanin Bécot reveals an abundance of cassis, blueberry, flower and violet aromas overlaid with a nuance of graphite. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is perfectly balanced and framed by fine, controlled tannins and power. This wine made a significant impression on me.

The 2019 Joanin Bécot is terrific. Classy and polished, the 2019 shows off terrific purity of fruit and expressive aromatics to match its mid-weight personality. As always, the Franc lends notable distinction.

Juicy and direct, featuring a mix of black cherry and red currant fruit that stretches out nicely, with singed alder and tobacco notes and a subtle chalky thread that guides the flavors through the finish. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2029.

Evident freshness from the first moment, plenty of body to the savoury red fruits. Everything is in balance and you get both juice, deepening gourmet touches of chocolate shavings and
salinity as it builds to the finish. Great stuff, and low SO2 additions.

A Joanin les Merlot ont été ramassés du 24 au 27 septembre 2019. Les Cabernets Francs ont
été ramassé le 11 octobre 2018. Robe pourpre violacé. Bouquet de bonne intensité marqué par la fraîcheur au travers de note de menthe. Je relève également un peu de fèves de chocolat. Au palais, le vin est juteux et fruité. Les tannins sont bien intégrés et en symbiose avec la structure. Ils ont du grain et forment une belle assise pour l’ensemble du palais. 2021- 2030.
