Dense, powerful, spicy bouquet with menthol, tobacco, dried blueberries, blackberries, cocoa and a touch of cinnamon. Dense and juicy, with fine sweet tannin, good structure and elegant acidity. Charming, dense, ripe red-to-black berry fruit with currants, wild cherries, light chocolate pralines, dried blood orange and delicate light herbal spice on the finish. Long.

Quite gracious for Clare Valley Shiraz. More refined and aerial than the 2022, tasted alongside. Very elegant and a little more ample in frame, with greater midpalate clarity and delineation. Patchouli candlewax. Incense. Even a hint of cordite. This is more layered too, and it’s almost as if the greater aging has allowed the fruit to resolve itself into layers. Quite solar but in a managed way. Elegant and glossy yet with lots of aging potential. Long and gently tapering on the finish. 96+.

Deeply colored and flavored, the full-throttle 2016 Shiraz The Armagh delivers a rich and impressive core of blackberry, chocolate, blueberry, cloves, earth, eucalypt and dried spices wrapped up in a cloak of oak. Immense fruit concentration follows with a freight train of sweet oak and immaculately balanced drying tannins, building up to a massive finish. The 2016 is big and deeply expressive.

Mint and eucalyptus. Incense. Very expressive aromatically. Pure. Crystalline. Cedary. Intense black liquorice notes. A wine of considerable viscosity, but beautiful precision and clarity. Limpid. Dense. Intense but not at the expense of precision. That’s what’s really impressive here. Indeed, this is almost sinuous despite the density – it’s like taking an ocean liner on a slalom course! Glacially pure and gently rippling on the delightfully chewy, crumbly finish.

Saturated violet. Powerful, spice-accented black and blue fruits, incense, potpourri and licorice on the hugely perfumed nose. Stains the palate with alluringly sweet, finely detailed blueberry, cassis, mocha, exotic spice and cola flavors; a hint of vanilla appears with air. Blends power and finesse with a sure hand and shows superb balance and zero rough edges. Finishes wonderfully long and juicy, with harmonious tannins and resonating spice and floral notes.

A sumptuous Shiraz displaying a lively purple colour with black core. Opulent nose with abundant fruit reminiscent of juicy blackberries, black cherries, ripe plums, fine toasting aroma, hints of liquorice and beetroots in the background. On the palate rich and meaty, yet showing elegance, with excellent complexity, depth and length. Ripe tannins and fine acidity built up an exciting tenions complemented by lots of fruit and mild spices lingering in the aftertaste. An impressing wine with great potential.
