The bright fruit aromas and delicate palate suggest a significant proportion of Sauvignon Blanc in the 2022 Château Guiraud blend (65% Sémillon + 35% Sauvignon Blanc). This composition delivers a vibrant palate, defined lines, and pleasant acidity, completely redefining my perception of Sauternes in a dry and warm vintage. The opulent fruit aromas, dominated by mandarin, sweet orange, and yellow apricot, give way to subtle hints of clove and white pepper upon gentle swirling. Despite its high sugar content, the aftertaste remains wonderfully fresh, with a jelly-like texture on the palate, complemented by the saffron notes typical of noble rot—a quintessential expression of Sauternes that I crave.

The 2022 Château Guiraud is beautiful, with the ripe, powerful style of the vintage. Honeyed orange, white flowers, peach, and some minty nuances all shine here, and this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a lush, layered, seamless mouthfeel, and a good sense of freshness that keeps it light on its feet. It's a brilliant Sauternes to drink over the coming two decades or so. The blend is 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon, raised in barrels.

Que de profondeur, de densité et de complexité dans le bouquet de Guiraud 2022 avec du zeste d'oranges et des nuances racinaires complétées par des notes florales et tropicales (ananas, mangues fraîches). En bouche, le vin est crémeux et bien tenu par une structure compacte. Onctueux et néanmoins salivant, le vin adopte un profil linéaire et serein. Il demande à s'épanouir, tout en bénéficiant d'une finale imposante de longueur qu'il doit à de nobles amers propices à plébisciter l'énergie et la fraîcheur dont il dispose. Un grand vin qu'il faudra savoir attendre. 2029- 2060 97/100

The 2022 Guiraud has a powerful bouquet with yellow plum, jasmine, saffron and light waxy aromas that unfold in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with wonderful purity and hints of saffron-infused yellow fruit, orange pith and nectarine toward the caressing, marzipan-tinged finish. This is lovely!

Fig, white truffle, dried apricot pit, with a kick of grapefruit and pineapple to add lift and tension. It balances out between opulence and freshness, but this is a tough vintage, and even here you can expect lower acidity than in most vintages. Organic farming, sand gravel and clay soils, 10h/h yield, harvest September 15 to October 27th,134h/g residual sugar. First vintage with Sandrine Garbay as estate director, moving over here from Château d'Yquem.

There’s a real purity of fruit and focus here with sliced dried-pineapple, peach and apricot aromas and flavors, very impressive and clear with a medium sweetness and light spiciness at the end. Some licorice and pie crust to the wonderful fruit as well. Drinkable but so much better in five or six years.

The 2022 Guiraud is powerful and resonant but also tightly wound. Tangerine, light caramel notes and exotic spice tones build in the glass. The Guiraud is a bit reticent today but possesses good structure and fine balance to match its substantial overall presence.

Sliced green apples, peaches and orange blossom on the nose, with a touch of nutmeg and sandalwood. Lovely fragrance and concentration here, medium- to full-bodied, with caressing and bright layers that follow through to a long and fruity finish. 70% semillon and 30% sauvignon blanc. Drink or hold.

The 2022 Guiraud, back after being decimated by frost and now with former Yquem winemaker Sandrine Garbay at the helm, has a fragrant bouquet with quince, lemon curd, dried honey and saffron scents. It takes a while to find its groove. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening and well-judged acidity. It's harmonious and sensual, with a pure, lightly spiced finish that lingers. Very fine.

Pale medium colour. Camomile, nectarine, tonic water, grapefruit touch honeyed aromas. Classically structured nectarine, grapefruit glacé flavours, lacy tectures, lovely creamy generosity and persistent pure acidity. Beautifully expressive wine with attractuve botrytis comlexity and mineral length. Not as heavy as past vintages. (Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 100% new oak)

Guiraud se révèle pas à pas. Très subtilement, au travers de nuance sde pêches, d'ananas et de safran, floral. Élégant. Beaucoup de subtilité et de profondeur dans le bouquet. Belle densité en bouche où le vin est crémeux et expressif. Il se révèle par palier, avec délicatesse et souligne sa profondeur, sa fraîcheur et sa persistance. Tout est équilibré, hamonieux, ordonné. Que de tension, de profondeur, de vivacité. on ressent un peu le boisé en bouche, mais pas de manière marquante. Clairement, le vin marque plus de points en bouche qu'au nez. C'est une très belle réussite. Je me réjouis de le déguster en bouteilles… je pense qu'il peut encore gagner quelques points ;-)

The 2022 Giraud is very beautiful. In this vintage, Giraud is not quite as rich as it can be, and yet it still offers notable depth and nuance. Spice, ginger, orange confit and apricot jam open nicely in a mid-weight Giraud that shows terrific energy. Drinking window : 2027-2047

The first vintage with Sandrine Garaby, formerly of Chateau d'Yquem in charge is the winner you knew it would be. The wine is intense, rich, deep, and manages to balance its layers of roasted, ripe, and over ripe pineapples, mango, candied orange, vanilla, almond, and apricots perfectly. The fruits are slathered with honey, yet they retain that all important freshness as well. Drink from 2025-2050.
