The 2014 Goulée by Cos d'Estournel is fresh, succulent and juicy. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and incense meld together in a supple red to drink over the next handful of years. In 2014, the Merlot is a bit higher than is typical, which gives the wine softer contours and tons of near-term appeal. The blend is 78% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc.

Goulee by Cos d’Estournel was produced from a blend of 78% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc. With licorice and black cherry notes, the forward yet approachable wine is soft, sweet and already surprisingly earthy. It will be best young. 88-89 Pts

The La Dame de Montrose 2014 is a blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot representing 37% of the total production. The bouquet is a little simple if compared to say, Les Pagodes de Cos 2014: blackberry mixed with boysenberry, a hint of black olive that is accentuated with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, grippy tannin. There is moderate concentration here, just a touch of spice emerging toward the finish that tapers away a little too early. At the moment there is a gulf between this and the superlative Grand Vin - it will be interesting to see whether it remains there in bottle.

Dark berries, spices and hint of fresh herbs on the nose with supple tannins on the palate. This vineyard is in a drier site than other parts of the northern Medoc thus flavors have good concentration. Wonderful freshness on this wine with good balance. The first vintage of this wine was 2003. Blend of 78% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon. 14% alcohol.

A pretty and refined wine with fine tannins and chocolate. Medium body, bright acidity, and a medium finish. This is almost all merlot (78%) now and much better.
