Giodo - Brunello Di Montalcino - Brunello Di Montalcino 2020
Alberelli di Giodo – When Etna Meets Tuscan Tradition
The story of Giodo in Montalcino began in 2002 when Carlo Ferrini, one of Italy's most renowned winemakers, acquired one hectare in the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino appellation. This acquisition marked the beginning of an exciting adventure and challenge, while fulfilling a long-held passion. The name "Giodo" is a tribute to his parents, Giovanna and Donatello.
Today, the Giodo estate spans 5.5 hectares between Sant’Angelo in Colle and Sant’Antimo. Carlo Ferrini planted the Sangiovese clones he had identified as the most promising over the years. The heart of the vineyard (2.5 hectares) is dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino, while the younger plots (3 hectares) produce "La Quinta," a Toscana IGT.
Giodo’s Brunello matures for 30 months in oak barrels of 500, 700, and 2,500 liters. This wine reveals exceptional nobility, with complex, deep, and intriguing aromas. Its taste is intense and velvety, without excess opulence, and it stands out for its extraordinary length.
The two Giodo labels feature a human icon and a circle, symbolizing the "Sangiovese" grape and the world of viticulture, respectively. On the Brunello label, the figure is placed inside the circle, representing the exclusive use of Sangiovese in the production of this wine.
