Fugue of Nénin - Pomerol 2015

The 2015 vintage started with well reconstituted water reserves. The month of April, sunny and particularly hot in its first fortnight, triggered a rapid and regular bud break, laying the foundations of a vintage that will prove to be uncommonly homogeneous. Indeed, all the key stages took place under ideal conditions. The beautiful days of late May to early June allowed the flowering to unfold very quickly and uniformly for all varieties. The maintenance of this exceptional weather then allowed the installation of moderate to strong water stresses from the beginning of July at a very beneficial stage for the synthesis of polyphenol precursors. Then the rainfall that occurred at the end of July and beginning of August came at the right time to allow the veraison to evolve in a regular, fast and homogeneous way. After a month of August alternating between sunny and stormy periods, the ripening phase continued in September under rather dry and soft conditions allowing to preserve a nice aromatic freshness and to obtain a nice concentration of the grapes.

Nez fruité avec de jolies nuances épicées. Bouche souple, gourmande, tanin souple également, notes d’amande douce, fruits mûrs. C’est bon.

Fresh, vibrant and a little more focused than usual, the grain of tannin giving line and length and a more assured structure. Will be good value.

The 2015 Fugue de Nenin is a lovely second wine. Sweet floral notes, raspberry and strawberry are pushed forward in an attractive, gracious wine that shows the more delicate, feminine side of Pomerol. It should drink nicely upon release.

  • 90% Merlot. And 4% press wine included.
Mid crimson. Quite a lively nose that jumps out of the glass. Smooth, though only just enough freshness. Ripe but not super-sweet. Rather astringent tannins on the end.

Vin certes léger, mais très agréable qui se distingue par un peu plus de précision aromatique que de coutume. Friand.

A refined and very pretty red with plum and walnut aromas and flavors. Full bodied, round tannins and fresh finish. Savory. Second wine of Nenin.

The 2015 Fugue de Nenin is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc cropped at 37 hectoliters per hectare between September 17 and October 5 over nine days. It represents around two-thirds of the total production. There is a very fine purity on the nose here, especially considering that this is a deuxième vin, a mixture of red and black fruit, a touch of cedar from the Cabernet Franc emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with light and crisp tannin, tensile in the mouth with charcoal-tinged black fruit that tapers slightly towards the finish. Give this 2-3 years in bottle and then drink over the next decade. Drink 2019-2028
