Petit Verdot does a subtle but critical job in this wine, linking cassis-soaked Cabernet's lovely, lithe core to the smooth, red-fruited Merlot. The balance is terrific here, and the oak sits back respectfully, allowing the perfectly balanced blend to work its magic. 16.5+

The fresh and delicious palate, the luscious body, and the soft and mellow tannins, every detail is very approachable. Although the floral and fruity flavors are not particularly pronounced in this vintage, its delicate palate still impresses me. The 2021 Fourcas Hosten is quite concentrated on the nose, offering black cherries, blueberry and floral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly drier tannins than its peers, quite masculine and a little austere but culminating in a pleasant tobacco-tinged finish. Fine.
