Fleur de Pedesclaux - Pauillac 2022

The Lorenzetti family, a committed family

Jacky and Françoise Lorenzetti purchased in 2009 this Grand Cru Classé in 1855 in Pauillac. Now, together with Manon, their daughter, they work as a family, and the atmosphere they have created on their estate is both rigorous and convivial. They are driven by the love of high quality work an the respect for the land and for the men who work it.

Blossoming as soon as it is opened. With its richer concentration in merlot, Fleur de Pédesclaux offers a softer, lighter touch with a warm and silky texture. Its fruity aromas are intense, crisp and pleasing on the palate.

Fleur de Pédesclaux always exudes a delicate and fragrant aura, as if a myriad of tiny flowers is gently brushing against your nose. Despite the dry and scorching weather of the year, this high-Merlot blend manages to maintain a refreshing acidity. Unlike other wines that strive for “small and exquisite”, it does not forget to sprinkle some aromatic roasted almonds and fine tannins at the finish. Among a sea of easy-drinking wines, Fleur de Pédesclaux is sure to stand out.

2025-2032 90/100

A beautiful, expressive nose of violets, dark cherries, cassis and pencil shavings. Deep and really perfumed, with firm and precise tannins. 49% merlot, 46% cabernet sauvignon and 5% petit verdot. It’s already appealing, but it should be aged for two to three years in the bottle. Drink from 2028.

Fruity and open on the nose. Nice intensity and structure, lively and straight In the mouth with overall balance. A touch light, but so easy to drink with real Cabernet signature. Feels well worked, not massively layered but delivers an enjoyable glass of wine with cool freshness and refinement. Total acidity: 3.6. 35% new oak barrels. 3.79pH.

The 2022 Fleur de Pédesclaux has an intense bouquet with pencil box infused black fruit. Needs just a little more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with just a very slight touch of greenness on the entry (though, I find it adds freshness). Modest depth, quite tannic and muscular on the finish. It will need 2-3 years in bottle.

A blend of 49% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot, with a pH 3.79, the 2022 Fleur de Pedesclaux has a deep garnet-purple color. It comes galloping out with energetic notes of crème de cassis, blackberry preserves, and mulberries, plus wafts of Indian spices and mocha. The medium to full-bodied palate is lively and intense, with bags of juicy black fruit and a grainy texture, with a fruity finish.

The 2022 Fleur De Pédesclaux is up-front and charming, with plenty of currant and blue fruits as well as medium-bodied richness and depth on the palate. It's a well-made, forward, delicious wine in the making.

The 2022 Fleur de Pédesclaux is a gorgeous second wine. Crushed red berry fruit, spice, leather, menthol, licorice and mocha give the 2022 lovely immediacy. Soft, plush contours wrap it all together. The 2022 is sensual and wonderfully inviting. Drinking window : 2025-2034
