During the En Primeurs tasting, I found the oak influence somewhat pronounced, making the wine feel overly heavy. However, this concern has been significantly alleviated after bottling. The tannins are abundant yet supple, creating a dense and velvety texture. While the floral notes of the 2022 vintage are less prominent compared to previous years, its mature and harmonious style remains irresistibly appealing. This wine is a good “model student,” and if it develops greater aromatic complexity after aging, it will undoubtedly become even more captivating.

Concentrated, inky plum colour, attractive violet around the rim, luscious in texture, well judged bitterness, this is enjoyable, has impact and character, and feels supercharged without being overpowering, damson, black chocolate and liquorice. 100% new oak for ageing.

The 2022 Château La Fleur De Boüard Le Plus is brilliant, which, given the track record here, should surprise no one. Ripe black cherries, cassis, spicy oak, graphite, camphor, and chalky minerality all shine in this beauty, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a seamless, layered mouthfeel, ripe yet present tannins, and a great finish. It's going to benefit from 4-5 years and be shockingly good over the following decade.

The 2022 Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard is rich, heady and succulent. Black cherry, lavender, spice, new leather and incense build in the glass, filling out the layers and giving the wine notable complexity to match its succulent, generous personality. This is beautifully done. Shorter aging worked well here.

Forward and fruity, a tangy grip to the freshly picked strawberries and raspberries and red cherry fruit. Almost delicate, the tannins are really well worked just giving a soft grip to the palate, but balancing the acidity and fruitiness. Juicy and slightly lean but this really works and is very apprahable and agreeable. Lovely freshness and push from start to finish. Great job. HVE certified.

Inky damson in colour, a ton of velvety fruit on the nose, this is good quality, unquesionably marked by oak, and the tannic build up happens pretty quickly. Enjoyable, quietly confident, impressive, with intense bitter black chocate and mint on the finish. Heavy bottle. Different in feel from the main wine at the estate, but both are enjoyable. Now majority owned by the Liquard family, with Hubert de Boüard still minority owner and running the estate along with director Emmanuel Teillet.

The 2022 Le Plus de La Fleur de Boüard emerges from the best Merlot blocks on the property. It shows good density and plenty of power. As always, Le Plus is destined for extended aging in barrel, so élevage will ultimately play a very big role in the final result. Drinking window : 2025-2037
