Another outstanding wine in the vintage, the 2020 Château Fayat is medium to full-bodied with velvety tannins and loads of charm in its ripe cherry, baking spice, cassis, and loamy earth-like aromas and flavors. It has some background, chocolaty oak, which should integrate with 2-4 years of bottle age, and it's going to evolve gracefully over the following 10-15 years. It's a beautiful wine.

Flowers, truffles and ripe, dark red pit fruit aromatics are all over the place here. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied is silky, polished and fresh with a vibrancy, purity and elegance that makes this by far, the best vintage of Fayat ever produced! This is a simply gorgeous Pomerol. Drink from 2023-2040.

The 2020 Fayat is laced with dark berry fruit, espresso, licorice, spice and chocolate. This is a decidedly plush style, but the oak is overpowering, while angular contours remain.

The 2020 Fayat was the most promising vintage that I had encountered from barrel. Now in bottle, it certainly possesses an appealing nose: black cherries, boysenberry, black truffle all vying for attention. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine structure. It eases the brakes on towards the finish in order to retain refinement and freshness, completing yes, the best Fayat in many years.

The 2020 Fayat has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry and black truffle scents, demonstrating delineation and focus that have occasionally been missing in the past. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a fine bead of acidity, fine precision and a brisk, fresh, saline finish. Easily the finest Fayat that I have tasted in my career. Chapeau!

Deep plum colour, this is all smooth edges and steel black fruit delivery, could do with a little more lift and energy. Bitter chocolate shavings and smoked rosemary on the finish. From the winemaking team at La Dominique, but not as successful as the excellent classified St-Emilion in this vintage.

Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Fayat charges out of the gate with notes of crushed blueberries, juicy black plums, Indian spices and licorice with hints of kirsch, bouquet garni and black truffles. The full-bodied palate is chock-full of ripe black fruits, framed by rounded tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with lingering notes of exotic spices.

Very finely crafted with creamy and chewy tannins that are polished and frame the blackberry, black-olive and chocolate character nicely. It’s full-bodied and structured. Best ever?
