This is a decent effort from Desmirail with smoky black fruit and a semblance of ripeness. The fruit is pushed to the front of the palate, and so it tries to please, and this effort is certainly worth it. The back palate is a little grainy and oaky, but this will mellow in no time at all. 16

The 2021 Château Desmirail has plenty of spice and chocolaty red and black fruits to go with a soft, supple, forward, yet satisfying style. It offers fruit, texture, and pleasure, and I suspect it will deliver the goods right out of the gate as well. I like it.

The 2021 Desmirail has a potentially endearing bouquet of black cherries, iris flower and peony; it just exudes "Margaux-ness.” The palate is medium-bodied with fine, quite solid tannins, compact black fruit and a saline/oyster edge on the finish. Quite focused and delivering good length, this should age well in bottle.

Leuchtendes Rubin. Die Nase ist noch etwas vom Holz geprägt, rauchig, speckig, mit dunklen und roten Früchten unterlegt. Im Gaumen weich im Auftakt, packt dann zu, zeigt merklich Gerbstoff, dieser ist feinmaschig, stützt die knackige Frucht, der Wein hat einiges an Rasse, ist würzig und endet wiederum auf vom Barrique geprägte Rückaromen. Muss das Holz noch verdauen, dürfte mit weiterem Ausbau zulegen. 2027-2040 (Verkostet im April 2022. UGCB)

Oscillant entre beau boisé fondu, notes florales et fruits noirs "al dente", Desmirail propose un bouquet élégant et frais, légèrement graphite avec des pointes fumées et surtout des arômes de cerise noire et de mure. Juteuse et savoureuse, la bouche possède une structure légère à moyennement dense mais s'affirme par une finale fruitée et florale. Un beau vin en devenir.

Fragrant and perfumed with blackcurrant and chocolate aromas. Tannins are forward, striking and mouthfilling but with a fine, chalky and powdery texture. The fruit is taking a back seat presently, the strawberry and red cherry a little dominated by those tannins, but this is captivating and has charm. Although not totally harmonious right now this feels stylish with an excellent texture, and I love the dark chocolate and bitter slate edges on the finish.
