Dame de Bouard - Montagne Saint-Emilion 2020

Lots of ripe cherries, assorted red fruits, dried flowers, and spicy notes emerge from the 2020 La Dame De Boüard, a charming, medium-bodied, elegant, and delicious 2020 to drink any time over the coming 7-8 years.

Flowers, licorice, cocoa and plum aromatics come through with little effort. On the palate, the wine is soft, fresh and fruity, with a polished, sweet, chocolate and cherry finish. Drink from 2023-2034.

The 2020 Dame de Boüard is a tasty second wine. It offers up racy, super-ripe red fruit, orange peel, cinnamon, mocha and apricot, all in a forward style that can be enjoyed on release. Even with all of its natural exuberance, the Dame de Boüard retains notable finesse.

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2020 La Dame de Bouärd wafts out of the glass with fragrant notes of lavender and roses over a core of stewed plums, dried mulberries and woodsmoke. The medium-bodied palate has a chewy texture and impressive freshness supporting the savory flavors, finishing with an invigorating lift.

The 2020 Dame de Boüard is a powerful, brooding wine. Strong floral and savory accents wrap around a core of inky red fruit, and the Cabernet aromatics are especially marked. There a few hard edges at present, but hopefully élevage can sort these out.

The 2020 Dame de Boüard has an attractive, lively and pure nose of perfumed blackberry, violet and incense aromas that seem to blossom with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, and quite saline on the entry, with good acidity. Muscular on the finish, but I can abide that because there is good length and it should mellow during its élevage and lose some of its stockiness.

Soft, lush, ripe and forward with a focus on its cocoa-infused plums, cherries and licorice. There is a nice polish to the tannins, and ample, sweet fruit in the finish, making this just great to enjoy on release. 89-91

Fruits frais et légèrement cassis et myrtille, le bouquet est mentholé et gourmand. Texture charnue, juteuse, enrobée comme des argiles toujours avec une trame aromatique fruitée et élégante. Un joli vin de plaisir.

Dunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung.

A dense, layered red with blackberry and walnut character. It’s full and flavorful. Chewy finish. Solid for the appellation.
