Crozes-Hermitage red Guigal 2015
Domaine Guigal was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small ancient village and cradle of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. It is home to a unique vineyard where vines and wine have been celebrated for 2400 years. Arrived in 1924 at the age of 14, the founder vinified 67 crops at Côte-Rôtie and participated at the beginning of his career in the development of Etablissements Vidal-Fleury. In 1961, although very young, Marcel Guigal took the direction of the House alongside his father suddenly brutally blind. He was joined in 1973 by his wife Bernadette and worked together to develop the family business. In 1975, was born their son Philippe, today oenologist of the house. Accompanied by his wife Eve, he represents the third generation and continues the family work serving the Great Wines of the Rhone Valley. Since 1946, work and perseverance have borne fruit and certain stages attest, including the acquisition of Etablissements Vidal-Fleury in the mid-80s, which still retain full commercial and technical autonomy. Ten years later, the year 1995 was marked by the acquisition of the famous Château d'Ampuis, a historic and oenological landmark whose long history is directly linked to the Côte-Rôtie appellation. Old fortified house of the 12th century embellished Renaissance Castle Renaissance in the sixteenth century, it is located in a vineyard and bordered by the river King: the Rhone. The Château d'Ampuis became the headquarters of Maison Guigal while the offices and cellars remained in the ancient village of Ampuis. In 2001, the Domaine Guigal was embellished by the takeover of the Old Domaine Jean-Louis Grippat in Saint-Joseph and Hermitage and the Old Domain of Vallouit in Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes- Hermitage. Domaine Guigal vinifies and raises in its cellars in Ampuis the Northern Appellations of the Rhone Valley. The large southern appellations Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Tavel and Côtes-du-Rhône are also raised in these cellars. In 2006, the Guigal family acquired the Domaine de Bonserine and the shoulder in its development which remains independent of that of Domaine Guigal.
