One of the best Sauvignon Blancs in the world, the 2023 Château Couhins Blanc is based on 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Sauvignon Gris and was aged eight months in 25% new French oak with the balance in neutral barrels and tank. Its medium gold hue is followed by a killer perfume of mineral-laced citrus, honeyed orange, crushed stone, and mint, with an almost Riesling-like minerality and very subtle diesel character. Medium-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it has bright, racy acidity and a great finish. This château needs way more attention in the market, and this beauty will keep for two decades. Drink 2026-2045.

Honeysuckle, lemon wax, pomelo, and white flowers are easy to spot in the nose, and on the crisp, bright, citrus and pineapple-filled palate, leaving you with a fresh and refreshing finish. This will be ready-to-go on release, but if you wish, you can age t it for a decade or longer as well. The wine blends 96% Sauvignon Blanc with 4% Sauvignon Gris. Drink from 2025-2035.

The 2023 Couhins Blanc is a potent dry white. It offers plenty of textural depth but is also a bit reduced. I find the aromatics a touch muddled, the wine's considerable power notwithstanding. I would be curious to taste this again with more time in bottle.

Manchmal muss man es nicht kompliziert machen. Damit meine ich nicht, dass Couhins 2023 nicht subtil ist, sondern dass mein Kommentar zu Couhins 2023 einfach nur lauten könnte, dass er brillant ist! Das Bouquet ist charaktervoll, authentisch. Sauvignon Blanc auf Kalkstein mit Nordausrichtung ist nicht gerade alltäglich... und es funktioniert wunderbar. Ist das nicht eine unterschwellige Botschaft? So viel Frische, Mineralität, gepaart mit Zitrusnoten und einer Anspielung auf eine gesunde Herbheit! Der Wein ist salzig und linear, schlank, präzise, salzig und saftig. Er strahlt nicht durch Glanz oder Breite oder Reifung, er strahlt nur durch seine Seele, seine Authentizität und sein Streben nach Exzellenz, und das mit Demut. Bravo!

Stone fruits, orange blossom, spice, and terrific minerality all emerge from the 2023 Château Couhins Blanc, a medium-bodied concentrated, vibrant white that has bright yet integrated acidity, terrific overall balanced, and a great finish.

The 2023 Couhins Blanc is a bit dense and textured in this vintage. Apricot, white flowers, mint and lemon confit build nicely, supported by a phenolic-like structure that adds character.

A phenolic and structured texture frames the pretty and ripe fruit, but it remains fresh and long. Medium-bodied and focused. Just a hint of exotic fruit but very structured. Baby La Mission blanc. From 10 hectares of white-grape vines. 90% sauvignon blanc and 10% sauvignon gris.
