The 2016 Connetable de Talbot, the Deuxième Vin of Talbot, has a very light and rather anonymous bouquet that needs to express more fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a leafy opening, taut in style with a rather austere finish.

A lovely second wine, the 2016 Connétable de Talbot is soft, open-knit and quite pretty. Silky tannins, soft, pliant fruit and a mid-weight expression of structure all give the wine considerable near term appeal. Hints of leather, spice, herbs and tobacco meld into the dark, inviting finish.

A little short and blunt, with some green tinges, so I would avoid this wine in this vintage given that so many others are on form. 15

An attractive, smoky nose with some brambly dark fruits. A good St-Julien with plenty of juicy fruit signature, followed by a mouthwatering finish, this is a good second wine. Drinking Window 2027 - 2050
