The 2018 Clos René is opulent and outgoing on the nose with blackberry, boysenberry, truffle and cedar aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, plenty of cedar-infused black fruit with cracked black pepper and bay leaf towards the well defined finish. There is a touch of rusticity here, but bags of charm and it will age with style.

The most concentrated wine in the history of Clos Rene, this is on the deep plum side with licorice, dark chocolate and tension in the mouth. The fruit makes its presence known --something that has been missing from this estate for a while. Much of that credit goes to their new consultant Thomas Duclos.

Blended of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec, the 2018 Clos Rene is deep garnet-purple in color with a nose of baked blueberries and plums with balsamic and crushed rocks. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy with loads of earth laced black fruit preserves on offer and good length.
