Bouquet invitant tant par sa complexité que son intensité. Je relève des notes de genièvre, de mûres ainsi que de la fraîcheur au travers d'effluves d'anis et de réglisse. En bouche le vin est friand, fruité et soutenu par une belle trame tannique. Les tannins ont un grain fin et offrent de l'ampleur alors que la structure acide offre une agréable fraîcheur. Un vin élégant, convaincant que l'on pourra déjà apprécier dans sa jeunesse.

The 2018 Clos du Clocher, picked from 27 September until 5 October, was matured in 60% new oak. It has a classic Pomerol bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit laced with smoke and black truffle. The palate is quite intense, as you would expect, since the yield was 32hL/ha. Supple tannins, very saline in the mouth with a generous sprinkling of black pepper on the finish. This is an impressive Pomerol in the making with very good persistence. Superb.

The 2018 Clos du Clocher is terrific. Bold, punchy and flamboyantly ripe, the 2018 also has quite a bit of supporting structure. Crème de cassis, lavender, mint, licorice and new oak infuse a creamy Pomerol that stands out for its decidedly opulent personality. Clos du Clocher can be a touch over-extracted. While the 2018 is not a subtle wine by any means, it is also quite polished, with striking density and fine overall balance. Tasted three times.

Flowers, black raspberries and herbs combine on the nose. On the palate, the wine is elegant, soft and polished with silky tannins and sweet, ripe plums along with olive tapenade in the finish. Give this a few more years to allow it to soften. The wine blends 70% Merlot with 30% Cabernet Franc.

Composed of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, the deep purple-black colored 2018 Clos du Clocher slips sensuously out of the glass with kirsch, black cherry compote and preserved plums scents with hints of Chinese five spice, candied violets and Ceylon tea. Full-bodied, rich and laden with black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, it has a soft texture and just a spark of mid-palate freshness, finishing long and opulent.
