The 2018 Clémentin de Pape Clément has a confit-like bouquet with scents of date and fig infusing the black cherry and blueberry fruit. The palate lacquers the mouth, firm and grippy tannins, a voluminous Deuxième Vin that just needs more precision towards the finish. The oak is nicely integrated and hopefully it will just rein in its excesses by time of bottling.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Clémentin de Pape Clement offers seductive scents of warm black plums, blackcurrant cordial and Black Forest cake with hints of mocha, Indian spices and violets. Full-bodied, rich and velvety textured, it fills the mouth with black fruit preserves and plenty of freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

This is a powerful second wine of Pape Clément with a dense and deep palate of dark berries, chocolate and walnuts, as well as stone and minerals. Full body, yet compact and chewy with a polished and intense tannin backbone. With the addition of Le Sartre in this second wine, it is now its own wine.
