Tasted blind at the Southwold 2012 tasting. The 2012 La Clarté de Haut-Brion Blanc is tight at first and there is just a touch of reduction that blows away with aeration. It never quite finds its feet after that and needs to find more delineation. The palate is well balanced with tangy pineapple and citrus lemon notes, although the second half is dominated by the new oak and this obscures personality and terroir expression at the moment. Let's see if it improves with bottle age. Tasted January 2016.

Wonderful aromas of lemons, minerals and papaya follow through to a full body, crisp acidity and mineral, chalk, stone and dried-apple undertones. Delicious now but better in 2017.

Features a flattering edge of singed macadamia nut that melds wonderfully with the racier white peach, yellow apple and green almond flavors. The long salted butter finish has a touch of toast. Approachable now, but there's no rush. Drink now through 2020. 1,500 cases made. –JM

Bright, with pure green plum, macadamia nut, green almond, honeysuckle and orange blossom notes. Very pure and refined through the finish. Displays ample weight, stopping shy of being overbearing. Tasted non-blind. —J.M.

A firm a fresh wine with lemons and minerals. Medium body, with bright acidity and a lemon, mineral and fruity finish. Lots of apples and pears.
