Deep ruby/purple-hued, the 2023 Château Citran has an exotic perfume of red and black berries, iris, spicy wood, and graphite. Based on 52% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot and aged in 30% new French oak with the balance in once- and twice-used barrels and 10% in amphora, it's nicely concentrated, medium-bodied, and focused, with solid tannic grip, integrated acidity, and a good finish. This is a solid, age-worthy Haut-Médoc that will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and shine over the following decade. Drink 2030-2040.
