Nouvelle propriété du duo Bernard Arnault et Albert Frère, gérée comme Cheval Blanc par l’insatiable Pierre Lurton, La Tour du Pin s’impose dès son premier millésime dans un style très différent de Cheval : robe noire, arômes immédiatement séducteurs de petits fruits noirs et rouges, corps ample, riche, spectaculaire, de bonne profondeur et non dénué de fraîcheur. De bons débuts.

Quite a rich, seductive nose with lots of new oak. Lots of ripe blackberries and blueberries – opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe saturated tannins, quite velvety in mouthfeel, very polished but good purity underneath. A sexy Saint Emilion 2007 – modern in style and undeniably well-crafted. Tasted April 2008.

La couleur est sombre et de bonne intensité. Le nez se distingue par sa pureté, son caractère fin et finement crémeux. La bouche se livre tendrement, très fruitée, savoureuse, fondante et vraiment incrachable en finale. Beaucoup de charme. C'est un succès du millésime.

2007 was the first year Cheval Blanc looked after every aspect of this wine. Very deep colour. Very round and supple without too dry a finish. Some tingle and life to this though not especially concentrated. Sweet and rich and velvety. Just a very slightly tough note on the finish, Very fine tannins. But not for the long term!

Violets on the nose. The palate is of dark cherry fruit and suave, smooth tannins. Medium-plus-ish bodied. (This property was acquired in August 2006 by Bernard ARNAULT and Baron Albert FRERE, proprietors of Chateau Cheval Blanc).
