While I wasn’t able to taste the 2015, I purchased a bottle of the 2014 Chateau Siran for this report. It’s a charming, elegant 2014 that offers good ripeness in its black cherry, currants, licorice, and damp earth aromatics, as well as subtle minerality with time in the glass. With a touch of herbacousness, medium body, integrated acidity and a good finish, it’s an impressive, classic Margaux to drink over the coming 15 years or so.

The red and black fruits and delicately herbal character make this quite a complex wine. For this appellation and given the wine’s youthfulness, the balance of fruit, tannins and alcohol is almost seamless. Drink in 2020 but already gorgeous.

The 2014 Siran is one of the riper wines of the appellation. Racy black cherry, plum, licorice, leather and torrefaction notes abound in this pliant, juicy wine. Readers should expect an extroverted style with plenty of dark fruit and French oak overtones. Tasted two times.

Siran is in the south of the Margaux appellation just where the gravel outcrops rise above the river. It shows its fine position in this tannic wine. It has all the black-currant fruit buried for the moment under the structure. It is a serious wine that will repay aging. Drink from 2022.

A powerful, voluptuous wine, the 2014 Siran boasts gorgeous depth and terrific overall balance. Juicy black cherries, mocha, spices and new leather blossom in a pliant, inviting Margaux. The juicy, open-knit Siran is probably best enjoyed over the near and medium term.

This is the best wine I’ve tasted from Siran. Medium-bodied, soft, round and open with a core of licorice, blackberry and dark molten chocolate, this is a property to watch, as Hubert de Bouard is now the consultant. 89-91 Pts

The Château Siran 2014 has perhaps the most sophisticated bouquet that I have encountered at this stage from this upcoming estate. There is real definition and focus here, more precision than recent vintages have shown. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin. There is good acidity, energetic and animated in the mouth with a vivacious finish that has class. This is very promising for the future and it may warrant a higher score in bottle. Hopefully proprietor Edouard Miailhe now has the grand Margaux estate on the right tracks after years of inconsistent performances? This 2014 suggests that is the case.

Comfortable dark crimson look. Sweet graphite nose – a bit like really ripe Cabernet Franc. Juicy fruit and with a little bit of drying tannin on the end. Some richness but also a little bit of austerity on the end.  Drink 2023-2033 (16.5-)

Lifted, light-bodied perfumed Margaux, ready to be consumed fairly young. There is a delicacy and lovely floral note to this wine that is made by Denis Dubourdieu.

Well-expressed Margaux Cabernet fruit with nice florality and ripeness. This is always an elegantly satisfying wine and 2014 does not disappoint. Drink: 2018-2028 (89)

Solid core of fruit with chewy tannins and a walnut, chocolate charcter. Full body. Lots of fruit.

89–91. Barrel Sample. This is a wine that has already managed to balance fruit and structure. With a halo of fresh fruit floating above solid, yet not excessive, tannins, this wine should age well over the medium term.   — R.V. (3/31/2015)

Plum pit, cherry and dried anise notes form the core, with a light mesquite edge starting to emerge on the finish. A pretty, understated style.
