The 2015 Montviel is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc picked between September 29 and October 8 at 33 hectoliters per hectare. It has plenty of small red cherries, kirsch and cassis on the nose, perhaps not quite as precise as I was looking for. The palate is fleshy and sweet, powerful in the mouth with that 15.5% alcohol smudging the finish. Hopefully this will gain more freshness during its élevage.
